Buying cigars can be like buying fine wine….it can get expensive! Don’t shortchange yourself or your cigars buy storing them in a substandard cigar humidor. This article will discuss the major components of a quality cigar humidor.

Below is a short list of the more important items to consider when selecting a cigar humidor:

1. Seal: The most important aspect of a humidor is its ability to hold humidity. The seal will do that. When evaluating a cigar humidor, drop the lid from approximately 2-3 inches to see how it closes. If it lands on a cushion of air, the seal is fine. If it “clangs” when the lid is dropped, walk away because that isn’t a quality humidor….in fact, “it’s just a box”. Look to see what hinges are used to close the lid. Quality cigar humidors will have hidden quadrant hinges and/or piano hinges, which provide the best seal possible.

2. Exterior Construction: The sidewalls and bottom of the humidor should be at a minimum, ½” thick. Thicker than average sidewalls will create a more stable humidor interior with less fluctuations in temperature or humidity. Large temperature and humidity fluctuations will ruin your cigars. Check to see if the outside bottom of the humidor is lined with felt to prevent scratching of the furniture that you place your humidor on.

3. Interior Construction: It is extremely important that your humidor be lined in Kiln-Dried Spanish Cedar. This is the industry standard when it comes to quality made humidors. Kiln-Dried Spanish Cedar provides for less aromatic aromas than other woods which makes it the more desirable choice when selecting a cigar humidor. “You don’t want overly aromatic woods in your humidor as it may impart an unwanted flavor to your cigars”. Additionally, Spanish cedar is less prone to warping which is imperative when used in a high humidity application such as a cigar humidor. Should the interior of your humidor warp, the seal on the humidor will be broken and your cigars rendered useless. Having the interior Kiln-Dried gets rid of all the natural moisture that all woods contain. If the humidor you’re looking at has trays, make sure that they are ventilated to assure the humidity in your humidor can circulate to all cigars in the humidor.

4. Style: Are you interested in impressing your poker playing buddies or will a less fancy cigar humidor do? Matte finish or a multiple layer high gloss finish? One for the golf bag? There are so many styles to choose from it can be pretty confusing. Just make sure the humidor fits your personal style.

5. Quality: Don’t let price alone influence your decision as to what is a quality cigar humidor. There are many humidors on the market today that retail for less than $100 that will keep your cigars perfectly fresh for a long time. Look at all the variables discussed in steps 1-4 and you should have an easier time finding a quality humidor.

Try to avoid mixing mild and strong cigar in a single humidor…especially if they come without cellophane wrappers. They will marry their aromas and you will not have the cigars you thought you had. We always advise multiple cigar humidors if they have premium cigars without cellophane wrappers. Many premium cigars, such as La Gloria Cubana Serie line, have no cellophane on their cigars and these should not come in contact with other un-cellophaned cigars in your humidor.

Take your time…If you follow the 5 steps mentioned above, you will have a much easier time in finding the best cigar humidor for you.

the white cigarette company

To ensure that cigarette manufacturing companies are able to keep pace with the demand of cigarettes

by consumers, they have had to improve the methods in which they manufacture cigarettes. This has

been achieved by using automated cigarette making machines and tobacco feed systems.

Over the years, cigarette companies have needed to design ways to keep up with the growing demand of cigarettes. Cigarette manufacturers have been able to do this by using automated manufacturing machines. With growing technology, the abilities of these machines have drastically increased in capabilities.

Before automated cigarette manufacturing machines were introduced, all cigarettes where made by hand. People worked on a line and rolled and glued the cigarettes one at a time. This process was slow and did not produce many cigarettes in a given day. Today, there are more than sixteen thousand cigarettes made each minute on one machine. Supply and demand. These companies will keep the cigarettes on the shelves and in your fingers as long as there is a demand for them.

Technology has drastically increased from the time of hand rolling. Thanks to the use of automated cigarette manufacturing machines, cigarettes are made in huge quantities in a fast and efficient manner. First the tobacco is transferred from it’s holding areas, this is normally called a silo. In the silo, the tobacco is processed to insure the fullest flavor of your cigarette. Then it is transferred to a machine that will cut the tobacco and divide it. The machine will divide the tobacco and roll it into cylindrical shapes. Then it is transferred on to another machine.

The final process is to flip one of the doubled stick so that it faces the opposite direction. This ensures that made cigarettes are in proper place for packing. The machines used these days are faster paced than just doing it yourself. It all seems quite simple from back in the day when they had processed cigarettes by hand.

This next machine will work with the paper. The paper is fed into machines on long rolls that will cut off at specific sections. This will actually make more than one cigarette at a time. Often, this system will make two or more cigarettes in which are rolled into the paper and glued, then cut. The filter is then added and a brown cork paper is then added to the white tube. It is at this point in which the cigarette manufactures logo is printed on to the cigarette.

From there, the cigarette will move onto the packaging area. Packaging is interesting as the cigarettes are each turned opposite from each other and then put into packs. This insures a tight fit into the wrapping. All in all, this process takes micro seconds for each cigarette! Amazing. Cigarette manufacturing is now so high speed that automated machines can now produce more than eighty thousand cigarettes in the same time that it used to take to make just one cigarette by hand.

Machines have made it easier to make sure the product is on the market and ready for buyers. With the changes in technology, there are now faster machines on the market that can insure that cigarette manufacturers can get more cigarettes on the market without the need to hire additional help. It is mostly automated. Take a look at the new machines and what they can offer your company. Increase productivity today!

new trends cigar
How does hookah affect ones body?

After noticing the increasing popularity of this trend, I just have to know: Does this form of smoking have any lasting consequences like traditional cigarettes and cigars, or is it an okay thing to do as a social pastime?

Well, I don’t know that they’ve studied it, but I would imagine it’s slightly less carcinogenic than traditional cigarettes because you’re not inhaling the burning directly like you would with a cigarette. But there’s still a lot of crap in tobacco that isn’t good for you, so it’s still dangerous. I suppose if you just do it once in awhile it wouldn’t be too harmful, but I guess I just don’t get the appeal. My husband smoked for many years and after he quit he said that he didn’t even really enjoy smoking. It didn’t taste good, it’s just addictive. I’ve smoked a couple cigarettes in my life and I didn’t enjoy either one. I can understand why people smoke. It’s a habit and an addiction, but I really just can’t understand why people would want to do it as a pastime.

So the answer is, it probably won’t hurt you too much if you just do it occasionally. I just don’t see the appeal. :-)

e cigar

For many cigar smokers, the small paper band encircling their stogy is just a piece of trash, to be discarded along with the shrinkwrap around the box. But for others that cigar band is a bit of history – a collectible that adds immeasurably to the romance and mystique of smoking.

What is the cigar band, and how did it become so important? As is so often true when it comes to cigars, the story begins in Cuba – early-19th-century Cuba, to be exact, when that island nation had already come to be recognize as the cigar capital of the world. At that time cigar packaging was minimal – often no more than a wooden barrel or box, with the manufacturer’s name inscribed. The cigars themselves were generally left blank. This situation, not surprisingly, created a cheat’s paradise, in which cheap European cigars were bundled in boxes with “Cuban” markings on them and sold, domestically, to unsuspecting customers who thought they were getting fine imported Cubans.

Gustave Bock, a Dutch immigrant who owned a cigar factory in Cuba in the 1830s, is credited with being the first to place a paper band around his cigars. (Bock’s “cigar band” was just a paper ring with his signature on it.)

Many other makers adopted this practice, to the point where, by 1855, most Cuban cigar exporters were using them. These bands cut down on instances of counterfeiting while giving cigar manufacturers a way to increase name recognition and loyalty.

The practice spread from Cuba to cigar makers everywhere, and its popularity was encouraged by breakthroughs in printing technology, which developed alongside changes in the economy of Europe and the Americas that favored cigar smoking. Specifically, cheap color printing (through chromolithographic processes developed in Germany) was made widely available during the latter part of the century, and paper-embossing followed in the 1880s.

Between the expansion of the cigar industry and the new possibilities developed by the printing industry, a “Golden Age” of cigar advertising was almost guaranteed, and that’s what followed. Cigar makers began working not only to manufacture their cigars, but to differentiate their products from others. The late 19th and early 20th centuries featured elaborate, distinctive cigar box and cigar band artwork, often produced by highly-regarded commercial artists. These well-wrought bands featured images of famous figures of the day, historical figures, nationalistic imagery, nature scenes and animals. As with today’s postage stamps, special bands would be made to commemorate special events.

And, also like stamps, the bands had that combination of ephemerality and workmanship that so often draws collectors. While they were often well-made, they weren’t intended to last – so they gave collectors a challenge, as baseball cards, comic books and cheap children’s toys would later in the 20th century. And they always gave off a whiff of nostalgia, reminding dedicated smokers of good times shared with a cigar and a friend.

Children also found these bands attractive, since they were often left discarded on streets during the height of cigar-smoking’s popularity. Manufacturers even made “albums” with blank pages in which a person’s cigar band collection could be displayed – the forerunner of those plastic display sheets that every sports-card collector knows so well.

Adding to the boom in band collecting, some cigar makers gave premiums to customers who turned in a certain number of bands – everything from a set of children’s silverware (50 bands) to a Scientific American subscription (600 bands) to a baby grand piano (180,000), according to the American Cigar Co. catalog of 1904. (Those of you who used to collect Marlboro Miles during the 1990s should be feeling deja vu right about now.)

After World War I, cigars fell in popularity relative to cigarettes. Cigar makers stopped putting as much energy into the production of attractive cigar bands, as it became more necessary to cut costs. Cigar bands – at least in the US – grew generic, boring. The cost cut wasn’t enough – many thousands of cigar companies closed up shop for good in the US during the ’20s and ’30s.

Band collecting continues in the US among a hardy group mostly consisting of old-timers and nostalgia buffs, but in Europe it remains a thriving hobby, and cigar makers there continue to print colorful but cheap bands, some of which come as part of a series (again like stamps), others of which are created specifically for collectors.

cigar articles

The cigar is a status symbol of royalty. There are many brands of cigar available in the world market. It is made up of tobacco leaves. The selected tobacco leaves are first kept for fermentation for few months at 35ºC. This fermentation breaks down the resins and helps to create the uniformity of the color. These fermented leaves are then graded for size and color for a second round of fermentation. There are more steps in the manufacturing process of the cigars which will require a whole article to describe.

What makes cigar different from cigarette?

Whole leaves are carefully chosen for the manufacturing. The packing of the leaves are the most important part of the cigar making. The taste and quality of it depends exclusively on the rolling of the leaves. The tobacco leaves are hand-rolled carefully. The stuffing of the tobaccos should be perfect so that the air can smoothly circulate through the cigar. Over stuffing or less stuffing of the tobacco will directly affect the taste of the cigar. Unlike the cigarettes there are no filters attached to it, so you get a more robust smoke. “Cigarillo” is the Spanish word for little cigar. It is smaller in size and generally has filtered attached to it.

How to identify a fake cigar?

There are many brands available in the world market some of which are dedicated to the size, taste, and texture etc.  Cigars can be expensive items; some of them are priced as high as $30. So it is essential to distinguish between the original cigars and the fake ones. Unlike the original cigars the tobaccos starts falling from the butt if you cut the cigar. The texture of the butt is not smooth to touch and the length of the packs is uneven. Other than that the smoking will give away the real identity. There are certain specific seals of the packet as well that supports the originality of the product. There are many online traders who will provide you original cigars of the world famous brands at discounted rates. You can buy a packet or two through them.

best cigar sites
What is a good online site to buy cigars?

The boyfriend wants them for xmas, but I have NO idea where to get them or what brand is best. He likes “sweet” cigars. what ever that means. any tips would be appreciated! thanks!

i smoke cigars everyday. at least one.

I am Canadian so I can have habana cigar, but they are really expensive, therefore I buy less expensive cigars (yet very good).

My favorite internet ressource for cigars is www.absolutecigars.com

i ordered a dozen boxes from them yet and i will continue, they have really good prices, and most important, cigars are top notch when i receive them!

but one thing really strange. Since i live in canada, this site (absolutecigars.com) can’t deliver habana(cuba) cigars to my adress (any canada adress) but they can to any other one in the world (includinG USA) if your living in usa, please try it, if it work for you, one thing for sure, you’ll get top quality habana cigars for a very low cost and your boyfriend will be very pleased!!!

therefore, if you go to this site, and then want to order some cigars, you can order a box, or if you dont want to spend that much money, you can order a sampler (5 cigars) which i KNOW your boyfriend will still be pleased, I suggest these, which are mild : romeo y julieta #2 (these are cheap and yet very good)

montecristo #4 (the most widely sold habana cigar, a true love this one, easy to smoke, not too big!)

the two previous cigars are relatively small, about 40 minutes smoke….

bigger than that you could get

montecristo #2 (one of the best habana cigar)
upmann magum 44

of course there are a bunch more of cigars out there, but I you want to satisfy your boyfriend, personally i would be very pleased to receive some montecristo #4, it would be my choice !

anyway

hope this helps!

Pixel Advertising Website Tactics

There are numerous websites that specialize in pixel advertising website methods. The website will suggest a price per pixel, and then it is up to you to make your advert look as attractive as possible.

Wag the Dog Marketing will be able to advise you on where the best pixel websites are. You can hire the space for a five- to 10-year period, or less, and when you compare this to the price of pay per click advertising over the same time period, the price difference is dramatic.

The images the pixels form are similar to a mosaic format and a type of cigar wrapper art. The aim is to attract potential customers to click on your link, providing your website with more hits and thus more sales.

Pixel advertising is relatively new and some experts are touting it as the next big thing on the advertising front. Most pixel advertising companies set the minimum limit of 10px by 10px. This is logically the smallest space available for pixel advertising.

The Newest Trend in Online Advertising

The great thing about pixel advertising methods is that you make a one-time payment for a set amount of years. You know how much it costs so it is easier to manage your advertising budget this way.

The cost effective nature of pixel advertising is one of its endearing features. It might still be a little too early to realize how large an influence pixel advertising will have on the marketing world. However, when compared to other forms of online advertising the prices are great value for money with little risk.

Whichever direction you decide to take with pixel advertising, your links will be out in the public domain. This is always the short-term goal of a company – to get their brand into the sub-conscience of consumers.

The low risk nature of pixel advertising ensures that you cannot really lose. You will only gain because the prices and options are so cheap in comparison to other forms of online marketing. This is a recommended option for businesses on a tight budget who still crave more customers and publicity.

Something for Nearly Nothing

A pixel advertising website campaign would be a great first-time approach to online marketing. Wag the Dog are here to point you in the right direction and provide any advice you might need along your journey.

With this being the next big thing, pixel advertising is still an unknown quantity. The cheap advertising prices, which include five to ten years worth of advertising space, are very attractive and worth a try.

You cannot really lose a great amount of money with pixel advertising. Anything that offers a link to your website and diverts the traffic your way has to be a good thing. Let Wag the Dog Marketing show you how it is done.

different cigars

Why have you started smoking cigar? This question was asked so many times and the interesting one answer is, ‘Buddy! It was like an essential thing to do whenever I was amid my business fraternity or colleagues’. Certainly, cigar especially premium cigars like Punch Cigars, CAO Cigars, Macanudo Cigars, Montecristo Cigars and so on have become a symbol of social status. Hence, we take special care of all those stuffs whichever are concerning with cigars.

Let’s begin with selection of cigar and in this context we must know that tobaccos used in cigar vary accordingly soil condition wherever they have yielded. Thus, different cigars require different sorts of care. Cuban cigars manufacture in Caribbean islands and their climate is tropical. So, cigars are required to be kept in a warm climate with a relatively high humidity. Similarly, there are a many different cigar stocking measures:
? Few cigars are available in aluminum tubes and this metal preserves them even in dry climates.
? It is suggested that you must store your cigars in the tightly fitted cupboard, drawer or box, perfectly aloof from radiators and other sources of heat.
? Avoid the storing of cigar in direct sunlight and prevent its exposure from sea breezes.
? In UK region, it proves tough to maintain 16-200C temperature and relative humidity 65-70%. So, cigar lovers prefer humidor to preserve their cigars.
? Sometimes, humidity in make-shift humidor remains low then we can use a damp sponge in a cup because it serves as a basic provider of humidity.
? Leave the base of cigar containers unvarnished and do not laminate inner portion. Just allow the cigars to breath.
All above mentioned measures are helpful but sometimes we feel that all these are not enough to keep our cigars safe. Once cigar is dried then throw it away. However, re-humidified method proved effective but it needs expert’s hands.
