electronic cigarettes safety

Since 2006, the electronic cigarette has attracted millions of people around the world who have switched from traditional cigarettes to the e-cigarette, also referred to as the “safe cigarette, the e-cigarette, and the smokeless cigarette. Electronic cigarettes share some aspects of there traditional counterparts, such as appearance, feel and taste of a normal cigarette. But the differences are substantial in that the “safe cigarette” gets it’s name because it produces none of the negative aspects of traditional smoking like tar, ignition (heat), up to 4000 types of chemical additives that often lead to respiratory and cardiac system diseases, nor the carcinogenic effects of traditional cigarettes.

Adding to the safety benefits, the electronic cigarette has also been proven as a way for smokers to quit the habit, as the level of nicotine can be carefully monitored, thus giving the smoker the option of gradually lowering the level until he/she can quit without fear of withdrawals.

An electronic cigarette or “e-cigarette” is a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by heating a nicotine-chemical solution into a vapor. It is an alternative to smoked tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. In addition to nicotine delivery, this vapor also provides a flavor and physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, while no tobacco, smoke, or combustion is actually involved in its operation.

An electronic cigarette usually takes the form of some manner of elongated tube, though many are designed to resemble the outward appearance of real smoking products, like cigarettes, cigars, and pipes. A common design is also the “pen-style”, so named for its visual resemblance to a ballpoint pen.

Mini Electronic Cigarettes, an alternative to Smoking. This method of alternative smoking is a healthier and a successful way of kicking the habit for your nicotine cravings. Not only will this help with your cravings, but the most innovated method of the electronic cigarette is the fact that you can use this amazing product where ever, and when ever you please. The white cloud that likes like smoke is actually water vapor. This water vapor makes it possible to smoke in bars, restaurants, and even in public places where the law might now allow you to do so.

Nicotine solutions usually consist of nicotine diluted in either propylene glycol or glycerin, both common food additives. They also commonly have a variety of different flavorings added. Nicotine solutions sold separately for use in refillable cartridges are commonly referred to as “e-liquid” or “e-juice”.

In the modern world all business owners and bosses should be acutely aware of the requirement of fire safety training for staff members, in both legal and moral terms. Of course liability is a concern in a world gone mad with lawsuits but additionally; ensuring that staff members have the knowledge to cope with the event of a fire, and how to evacuate safely and swiftly is an essential business responsibility. As well as coping with fire, adequate safety training should also act in the preventative sense, helping to reduce the chances of ignition and spread.

It is a fact that despite a greater emphasis on fire safety in the workplace, many workers still die in fires on business premises annually. This is normally because training has been neglected by managers; naturally any manager who disregards the importance of safety training will have a large moral burden should injury or death occur to any members of staff. As well as the human costs, the financial repercussions are also worth noting. The monetary cost of some fires can run into the millions, through lost profits in terms of trading and liability suits after the event. Insurance can lessen the effects although training should still be an essential part of any safety strategy.

Fire occurs when three elements combine; any effective training program will include this information and contain ways in which to keep these fundamental ingredients separate. The three are an ignition source, a fuel stuff and oxygen. An ignition source can be anything from faulty electronic components to cigarette ends that have not been extinguished properly. Nearly any material can fuel a fire, although special preventative measures should be used with materials that are particularly flammable. Not much can be done about the oxygen element, but training should ensure the first two elements are controlled effectively.

Another purpose of staff fire safety training is to construct and implement a plan to cope with a blaze should it break out. Having effective measures not only reduces the risks of fire but also gives staff members the vital knowledge of how to battle minor blazes using extinguishers and also evacuate the premises swiftly and safely. Additionally, regular refresher courses should form part of any management’s health and safety planning.

Naturally taking on an inferno should in nearly all cases be left to the professionals. However, an effective training schedule will give members of staff the vital knowledge of how to recognise and utilise the different forms of fire extinguisher. Extinguishers are tools that should only be used by those with the correct knowledge; often the wrong type of extinguisher can make a blaze worse, for instance water extinguishers should never be used on electrical and flammable liquid fires.

It is normal practice to ensure that a least one member of staff has additional training in order to run and manage safety procedures and evacuation. This person will normally be known as the fire marshal and is a vital role in any business. This marshal or warden should not only ensure the safety of staff members but should be able to note the effects of the blaze and relate this information to the professionals on their arrival.

All businesses will need to enact some form of fire safety training in order to be compliant with the law. As previously stated, legal and moral obligation is a powerful reason to pursue this course of action. While some businesses may be put off by the price of hiring a trainer, no price is too high when considering the lives of others.

safety cigarettes
has anyone heard anything about the federal bill that legalizes up to 1 ounce of marijuana ?

I heard about it on the news last night….what was the outcome or is it still pending ?

what are your thoughts on this as well ?

In my opinion, there are several things that are legal that cause alot more harm to public health/safety…. for example Alcohol and Cigarettes…

I support the bill.

you ?
I think it should be treated just like alcohol…

21 to possess, and you can’t drive on it of course.

Me, yes. Feds?…
No. It’s schedule 1 illegal on federal level. It’s up to the states. I Calif. you are allowed to purchase up to 3 oz. from a dispensary if you have a valid medical permit, which is easy to get. There are about 100 pot shops in Los Angeles, around 15 here in Sacramento. It’s awesome.

electronic cigarette safety

The electronic cigarette is a new device which allows smokers to enjoy nicotine without the 4000 chemicals, 40 odd carcinogens and tar that are contained in cigarettes. Despite this, and perhaps motivated by the huge loss of revenue which the success of the device would mean for powerful interests in the political arena, there is a well financed campaign against the electronic cigarette.

Simply put, the campaign is wrong. The evidence against the electronic cigarette suggests that it is far safer.

1. The campaign say they are toxic: A recent FDA press release stated there were nitrosamines in electronic cigarette. What it didn’t say is that the FDA had tested the electronic cigarettes at 40 parts per trillion. Regular cigarettes contain 300 to 1400 times the amount ofnitrosamines contained in electronic cigarettes.

2. The campaign says they contain carcinogens: The FDA media report stated that the electronic cigarettes contained other carcinogens. However, the actual scientific report states that the FDA testing of 18 cartridges found that one cartridge contained one carcinogen – compared to over 40 found in regular cigarettes. (Source: A comparison by Professor Michael Siegel.)

3. The campaign says we don’t know what is contained within electronic cigarettes: On the contrary, there have been several studies. In addition to the FDA report on electronic cigarettes, there is also a report by Murray Laugesson , who was awarded a medal for the promotion of a tobacco free society, which found that the principal ingredient was propylene glycol: “Two small well-known molecules with excellent safety profiles.” (Source: Electronic Cigarette Safety.)

4. The campaign states that there is 40 times as much nicotine in e-cigarettes as regular cigarettes: A recent report in the Peninsula stated that there was 40 times as much nicotine in electronic cigarettes as in regular cigarettes. In contrast, the FDA report found that while e-cigarettes contain more nicotine than regular inhalers, even high nicotinecartridges contained less nicotine than regular cigarettes.

5. The campaign lacks a scientific backing: David Sweanor, who  has worked with numerous companies and organisations, including the International Union Against Cancer, World Health Organization, World Bank and the Pan American Health Organization, on the issue of tobacco harm reduction, states:

“If there is anyone who believes cigarettes are no more hazardous than e-cigarettes I’d recommend a remedial course in basic sciences.” (Source: An Interview with David Sweanor) 400,000 Americans and millions of people worldwide die from cigarette related diseases each year. It is time to put money and special interests aside and to examine the real issue – is the electronic cigarette safer than regular cigarettes?
