life cigarettes

When was the last time you said goodbye to a friend you have known almost all your life? Especially when you know you will not have that friend again, ever. How did you feel? If you are like me you would be totally depressed. Others may be happy they are losing a friend that is killing them. Most people aren’t happy when it comes to quitting smoking.

Quitting smoking could be the hardest thing you will ever do and it will could save your life. Smoking is kind of like a love-hate relationship. You really do love to smoke, but you also hate what the nicotine, tars and carcinogens are doing to you. How the heck are you going to live without the smoking habit you have developed? When you quit you will essentially be stripping your mind of the need for the nicotine and current negative behaviors that run your life. This would be after the nicotine has left your body after 10 to 15 days.

Once you have had that last, final cigarette you will have to change many negative smoking behaviors to positive non-smoking behaviors—and that may be really tough. If your current lifestyle evolves around cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or other tobacco products, you will possibly find it difficult to quit and change all the things you have to. That old friend you had still wants to hang with you and be part of your life.

Sometimes, in fact, quitting smoking may cause you to change the people or friends you associate with. You know you will have to change how you do things and where you go. But, of course, old haunts die hard. Set yourself some small goals and work towards the larger ones. Ease into not smoking and you will find that quitting will not be as arduous and you thought. Reward yourself occasionally with some small gift when you have reached a particularly hard goal.

All in all you can quit if you really have a desire to do so and have made a strong commitment to not smoke. Keep some friendly reliable people around you for support and remember—don’t do the things the way you used to. Before you know it you will have a smoke free lifestyle that you really enjoy.

And that friend—you won’t miss that friend at all.

airplane cigarettes
Can I bring cigarettes on an airplane?

I know smoking is bad for me, I’m hoping to quit this summer so please no lectures.
I’m under the age of 18 and will be flying alone in a few days.
I was wondering if it is okay to put a lighter and an open pack of cigarettes in my suitcase that I will be checking in (not a carry-on).
And I am staying in the U.S, I will not be flying out of the country.

Yes, but you cannot smoke it on the airplane.

And some airports do not allow smoking in it.

But to bring a pack of cigarettes and a lighter with you on the plane, yes it’s ok.

————–

At least that’s the case outside of US. I never went into US, so I dont know, but I’m like 99% sure it’s the same

———–

Edit: Emilyy: Are u sure lighters have to be in the suitcase? coz i’ve been to airplanes before with the lighter in my pocket, and there was no problem.

light cigarettes

Electronic cigarettes are now well-known in the internet market as the best, if not, the only healthy alternative to tobacco smoking. It is a battery operated device that allows a previous smoker to inhale his/her daily dose of vaporized nicotine solution.

Comparison to Tobacco

Using electronic cigarettes simulate the whole experience derived from smoking tobacco products. The mechanism itself tries to mimic the way smokers inhale cigarettes. The only difference is that it is not tobacco, it does not burn, therefore, it does not emit smoke.

In fact, the device also imitates the visual experience of smoking. It usually sports an amber LED that gets activated once you inhale. This perfectly resembles a lighted cigarette.

The refillable liquid nicotine solution is available in different flavors – from menthol to strawberry to vanilla. Much like the marketing strategy of traditional tobacco brands. It is also available in different nicotine concentration. This is an important feature especially if you intend to quit smoking little by little.

Whenever you use the electronic cigarette, every inhale that activates the atomizer can make you feel as if you are dragging from a real tobacco because you get to feel the heat on your lips. In terms of sensation, the only difference is that electronic cigarettes do not smell like tobacco which is another advantage in it self.

How It Works

The device is composed of a few basic components that enable it to function like an actual tobacco product. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The mouthpiece or the refillable cartridge has a liquid absorbent material.

When you inhale through the device, a sensor powered by a bunch of microelectronic circuits will detect the air flow. The microprocessor will then activate the heating element also known as the atomizer. This will take a few droplets of the liquid nicotine solution contained in the cartridge. The atomizer will, then, vaporize the solution to produce a smoke-like foggy effect.

The Healthy Alternative

Manufacturers and distributors of electronic cigarettes are claiming that the device is probably the healthiest and most cost-effective means to curb your nicotine addiction. In fact, if you do not have plans to quit smoking just yet, electronic cigarettes are still more advisable because it eliminates all the hazards you can get from tobacco, tar and the 4,000 other toxic chemicals contained in a tobacco product.

Nicotine is indeed addictive but it poses no harm at all. The culprit of most smoke-related diseases such as lung cancer, tuberculosis and stroke are these other chemicals that are completely extinct in electronic cigarettes.

All these – despite the disapproval of US Food and Drug Administration, together with World Health Organization. Nonetheless, the clamor of support toward electronic cigarettes comes from the customers, themselves, who successfully benefited from the device. This resulted to the sudden dwindling of electronic cigarette price in the market.

Anyone know cameras?

I’m going to take a course on photography and I’m looking for a certain type of camera. I saw one at Walmart that I like (although I don’t like walmart). It’s a digital camera, but it has the place to put regular film in, also. Before I buy this camera, I need to know if there’s a better camera I could buy. My limit is $200 (I know, cheap). I’m not into those little bitty cigarette pack-sized cameras. I need something sturdy but reliable with the option of removable lens. I’ve contacted every local photographer and they were absolutely no help. It would be awesome if someone with photography experience could help me on this!

I keep wondering what camera you saw in WallyWorld that shoots film as well as digital. I have to believe you are mistaken about that. There was a Kodak APS film camera that showed you the picture on the back screen, but that was review only, the image was only recorded on film. Hassy makes a medium format camera with an interchangeable digital back, needless to say, you won’t be finding something like that at a regular retailer,

No $200 digicam will have interchangeable lenses. You have to have an SLR for that. You can get a Nikon D40 with the kit lens for about $600 at B & H Photo. Or you can visit www.keh.com to look for a used camera.

If you can use a film camera, they are abundant and cheap, you can get a great used film SLR for pennies on the dollar. Or a new Canon film Rebel for under $200 at WalMart

Go to www.dpreview.com or www.stevesdigicams.com to research different cameras by features, specs, and see reviews.

Good luck!

oasis cigarettes and alcohol album

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

With the release of Dig Out Your Soul last week, the British rock band Oasis has now released seven studio albums (along with the B-Sides collection The Masterplan.) In this article I’ll give a short overview of each of those seven studio albums. If you are new to Oasis, you can use this article as a guide to which Oasis albums you’d like to buy first.

Oasis broke onto the UK scene in a big way with their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994. Many music critics and Oasis fans still think Definitely Maybe is their best album to date. It’s their only album where every song is sang by Liam Gallagher (Noel Gallagher sings at least one song on each album released since.)

With songs like “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “Columbia,” “Supersonic,” “Bring It On Down,” & “Cigarettes and Alcohol” it’s hard to argue against Definitely Maybe being the most “rock” of all Oasis albums. But while it’s heavy on the rock, it also has some transcendent sing along (but still rocking) songs such as “Live Forever” & “Slide Away.” Many Oasis fans still think “Live Forever” is the best song they’ve ever done.

They followed up with 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? and it was an even bigger success commercially as it really broke the band big time in the United States behind the success of “Champagne Supernova,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and of course “Wonderwall.”

“Wonderwall” is one of the most popular songs of the entire 1990s as shown by it’s constant high rankings on the “most played tracks” charts on Last.FM even 13 years after it’s release.

Besides those three hits the album also includes Oasis classics such as “Some Might Say,” & “Cast No Shadow.” If you’re more into melodies than rock then Morning Glory? may be a better choice for you than Definitely Maybe (not that it doesn’t also have some great melodies.)

1997’s Be Here Now was considered by many to be a big disappointment at the time but I think it has aged pretty well. Now some of it’s excesses seem kind of endearing although others sometimes not as much (particularly the fact that all of the songs are about two minutes too long.)

I still think “D’You Know What I Mean?” is one of the best songs Oasis has recorded. It’s got a great psychedelic rock stomp. It’s a direction I would have liked to see them go more towards. “Magic Pie,” “Don’t Go Away,” & “Fade In-Out” are other highlights for me.

2000’s Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is an album I liked a lot when it was first released as I felt it was an exciting new psychedelic turn for the band but unlike Be Here Now, I don’t think it’s aged as well.

That being said I am a big fan of the slow motion closer “Roll It Over” & the experimental (by Oasis standards) “Gas Panic!” I also think “Go Let It Out” & “Who Feels Love?” are underrated tracks.

I believe the band hit a low point (so far) with 2002’s Heathen Chemistry. While it had a couple of decent songs like the opener “The Hindu Times” and Liam Gallagher’s “Songbird” overall it’s easily their worst album in my opinion. The ballads are too hokey and the rockers don’t connect.

2005’s Don’t Believe the Truth was a return to form for the band. Songs like “Love Like A Bomb,” “The Importance Of Being Idle,” & “Guess God Thinks I’m Abel” along with the beautiful closer “Let There Be Love” make for a fantastic album that I think ranks up there with their ’90s work in some ways.

And this year Oasis released their 7th album, Dig Out Your Soul. While Don’t Believe the Truth was a return to form, Dig Out Your Soul is an advancement to a new sounds for Oasis. Every song (save maybe “Ain’t Got Nothin’”)sounds like a vital part of the album. Unlike most of their albums, there isn’t much in the way of “obvious singles” on the album but in a way that makes it even better. It seems to just fit together as a whole. I highly recommend it if you are an Oasis fan and even if you are not.
