oasis cigarettes and alcohol album

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

With the release of Dig Out Your Soul last week, the British rock band Oasis has now released seven studio albums (along with the B-Sides collection The Masterplan.) In this article I’ll give a short overview of each of those seven studio albums. If you are new to Oasis, you can use this article as a guide to which Oasis albums you’d like to buy first.

Oasis broke onto the UK scene in a big way with their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994. Many music critics and Oasis fans still think Definitely Maybe is their best album to date. It’s their only album where every song is sang by Liam Gallagher (Noel Gallagher sings at least one song on each album released since.)

With songs like “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “Columbia,” “Supersonic,” “Bring It On Down,” & “Cigarettes and Alcohol” it’s hard to argue against Definitely Maybe being the most “rock” of all Oasis albums. But while it’s heavy on the rock, it also has some transcendent sing along (but still rocking) songs such as “Live Forever” & “Slide Away.” Many Oasis fans still think “Live Forever” is the best song they’ve ever done.

They followed up with 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? and it was an even bigger success commercially as it really broke the band big time in the United States behind the success of “Champagne Supernova,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and of course “Wonderwall.”

“Wonderwall” is one of the most popular songs of the entire 1990s as shown by it’s constant high rankings on the “most played tracks” charts on Last.FM even 13 years after it’s release.

Besides those three hits the album also includes Oasis classics such as “Some Might Say,” & “Cast No Shadow.” If you’re more into melodies than rock then Morning Glory? may be a better choice for you than Definitely Maybe (not that it doesn’t also have some great melodies.)

1997’s Be Here Now was considered by many to be a big disappointment at the time but I think it has aged pretty well. Now some of it’s excesses seem kind of endearing although others sometimes not as much (particularly the fact that all of the songs are about two minutes too long.)

I still think “D’You Know What I Mean?” is one of the best songs Oasis has recorded. It’s got a great psychedelic rock stomp. It’s a direction I would have liked to see them go more towards. “Magic Pie,” “Don’t Go Away,” & “Fade In-Out” are other highlights for me.

2000’s Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is an album I liked a lot when it was first released as I felt it was an exciting new psychedelic turn for the band but unlike Be Here Now, I don’t think it’s aged as well.

That being said I am a big fan of the slow motion closer “Roll It Over” & the experimental (by Oasis standards) “Gas Panic!” I also think “Go Let It Out” & “Who Feels Love?” are underrated tracks.

I believe the band hit a low point (so far) with 2002’s Heathen Chemistry. While it had a couple of decent songs like the opener “The Hindu Times” and Liam Gallagher’s “Songbird” overall it’s easily their worst album in my opinion. The ballads are too hokey and the rockers don’t connect.

2005’s Don’t Believe the Truth was a return to form for the band. Songs like “Love Like A Bomb,” “The Importance Of Being Idle,” & “Guess God Thinks I’m Abel” along with the beautiful closer “Let There Be Love” make for a fantastic album that I think ranks up there with their ’90s work in some ways.

And this year Oasis released their 7th album, Dig Out Your Soul. While Don’t Believe the Truth was a return to form, Dig Out Your Soul is an advancement to a new sounds for Oasis. Every song (save maybe “Ain’t Got Nothin’”)sounds like a vital part of the album. Unlike most of their albums, there isn’t much in the way of “obvious singles” on the album but in a way that makes it even better. It seems to just fit together as a whole. I highly recommend it if you are an Oasis fan and even if you are not.

park drive cigarettes
Are apartment complexes required to have sufficient parking for tenants?

My husband and I live in an apartment complex where parking has always been somewhat of an issue. He left last night at about 8:30pm to get a pack of cigarettes at the gas station across the street. When he came back his parking spot was gone and there was nowhere to park. He drove around the complex twice and there wasn’t a single spot to park. He ended up parking on the curb which is a fire lane. We have parked here and so have others and have never been towed. This morning when he was leaving for work his truck was gone and it turns out it was towed. So now he has to pay the towing fee. The complex has told tenants that there are enough spots for two vehicles per apartment. Are apartment complexes required to have sufficient parking for tenants? What can I do about this? Is there anyone I can contact to report this?

Apartments are not required to have “enough” parking, they are required to have a specific number of parking spaces per unit or bedroom, depending on the local authority. Unless those parking spaces are assigned, they don’t care, nor do they have a requirement to see to there being a parking space available for someone.

Furthermore, if the apartment building was built prior to the implementation of the current building codes [i.e. the parking requirements] and so they do not have enough spaces, they were probably considered grandfathered under the old laws and still deemed legal. That, again, depends on the local authority.

In other words, there is not much that can be done in this case other than complaining to the office. That does not require them to do anything, but a sufficient rouse about it on premises or with letters to the editor could raise local awareness enough so as to force reaction for fear of losing tenants.

7 stars cigarettes

The Italian football player Francesco Flachi’s negative verdict of a sixteen month suspension was already pronounced last year but hadn’t been made definite because the Italian Olympic Committee had raised an objection. The reason for the verdict was the failure of a drug test taken from the 31-year-old forward after a home game from his team U.C. Sampdoria against the Italian champion Inter Milan on January 28th 2007. The founded drug was cocaine. Flachi declared back then that the drug had been in a cigarette which an unknown person offered him. After over one year the International Court of Arbitration for Sport has officially confirmed the suspension and increased it even to a two year ban.

In the past years Flachi already hit one or two headlines. After finding out that Flachi and some of his team mates had passed on internal information about possible game moves to gamblers in September 2006 the Italian Football League suspended him for two month.

Football is today one of the most popular and worldwide most played sport and doping is extremely rare. That’s what we thought but actually not the truth. In the past years there were detected several cases all over the world. Within the Football World Cups there were so far four international players tested positive: 1974 Ernest Jean Joseph from Haiti, 1978 Willie Johnston from Scotland, 1986 Ramon Caldere from Spain and 1994 the back then 33-year-old Football icon Diego Maradona from Argentina failed a drug test as well. In his blood was found a high dose of the substance Ephedrin. Maradona was also having drug problems in his private live. In 2000 he even suffered from a heart attack caused by an overdose of cocaine.

Some cases have appeared in Germany as well. Of course everybody first denied any contact with this topic but several former football players and coaches confessed that they were involved in doping. The former football player and one of the worldwide best keepers in the ‘80s Harald Anton Schumacher, who everybody just called Toni, published 1987 as a form of interim result of his career the book “Kickoff” with the subtitle “Disclosure about the German Bundesliga”.

The today 54-year-old had made several reproaches to players, coaches and functionaries. He wrote for example that Eike Immel is a compulsive gambler, Olaf Thon is a lazy player and Paul Breitner is a smoker and drinker. He wrote as well about the topic doping in the Bundesliga. He admitted that he was trying out drugs in the practice. His statement was that he wanted it to stop. After that the drug test was introduced. But not everyone wanted to just accept his statements so he had has to bear the consequences.

After a board-meeting of the German Football Association the former president declared that Schumacher will not draft in the national team anymore due to the existing situation. After his 15-year career with the German Club 1.FC Köln he also had to leave his team and switched abroad.

In the past month more and more former players began to speak and start to remember that players in their vicinity were taking incited substances.

dog cigarette cards

Recently my wife seems to have become addicted to ordering things from the internet. Hardly a day goes by without there being a knock on the door and I am confronted with some miserable looking delivery driver struggling with a large box and muttering the words “sign here” I am then obliged to attempt to sign one of those infuriating electronic delivery note machines. You know the ones that make your writing look like a child’s or as if you are using the wrong hand to sign with.

Increasingly more often these days when I check through our Bank statements I find a transaction I don’t recognise and immediately start panicking that someone has stolen our card details and gone off on a spending spree. The trouble with ordering things online is that it is sometimes difficult to see what you are actually buying .The highlight of which occurred recently when my wife announced that we should “bulk buy” items in order to save money. I reluctantly agreed to this (anything for a quiet life) but returned home to find a container of washing-up liquid in our porch which was the size of an oil drum and would be enough to keep a large catering establishment going for several months.

We’ve had this thing in the garage since June and the level doesn’t appear to have gone down at all yet. I am the first to admit that I loathe trudging around the shops but sometimes I point out that the item that cost us slightly less online actually ended up costing more by the time we have paid for the delivery.

My friend used to have an old Vauxhall Astra van and was able to earn quite a good living making deliveries for companies who would otherwise make a loss by the time they had paid for the fuel and employing a driver etc. I would occasionally join him on his travels and entered the crazy world of the delivery driver which seemed to largely consist of getting up ridiculously early and then taking delight in waking other people up. It also involved being chased by dogs, having arguments with traffic wardens, countless road rage incidents and then getting penalised for not making deliveries at the correct time. All of which made me realise why van drivers drive like maniacs.

The Vauxhall was a good workhorse as I recall and it served us well for both work and play. I used it countless times to move house and we would regularly go to France and fill it up with as much cheap alcohol as we could, much to the annoyance of British customs as they couldn’t do anything about it. I became very attached to that van and it was always there through the good times and bad.

I was therefore saddened to hear when it was stolen from my friend’s garage. The problem was it was too big to fit completely into the garage and so stuck out slightly, this was its downfall and the van was never seen again, or so my friend thought. The day he received the cheque from the insurance company he was in the car park of a local supermarket and saw a gaunt, rat faced individual smoking a roll-up cigarette at the wheel of his beloved van. Although he had received the insurance money he felt aggrieved and by chance there happened to be a police officer nearby (a rarity indeed).

He explained the situation to the police officer and the officer approached the vehicle. What happened next was like something out of a movie, the policeman tried to grab the keys as the van attempted to drive off and the officer was forced to jump onto the bonnet to avoid being run over, other officers and security guards smashed every window in the van and my friend pushed shopping trolleys in front of it to try and stop it, the van smashed through these and then rammed a police van which tried to block it. The police helicopter swooped down and by this time the van had four flat tyres, no windows or driver’s door. Amazingly the driver escaped but was later caught through DNA evidence obtained at the scene. Unfortunately that was the end of the van though!

3 cigarettes a week

It is easy to assume that all cheap cigarettes are same especially after reading all those high pitched advertising campaigns. See some of these captions for yourself. Cheap cigarettes at discount price, cheap Marlboro cigarettes, cheap discount cigarettes; these are the same words written all over, regardless of where these cheap cigarettes are coming from. These are particularly found on online discount cigarettes sale firms’ websites. Isn’t it time we get some facts straight?

Composition of cigarettes cheap or of high price is of course the same but they differ in their processing and quality of ingredients that go into making them. They include, in general, tobacco, paper, filter materials and additives in addition to paper gum. But how do they differ, especially what is the difference between cheap cigarettes in USA and cheap cigarettes in Europe?

Well, there are several techno commercial differences between the cheap cigarettes from these places. First, the premium cigarettes like Marlboro, Camel, Winston, Virginia Slims, and Salem are manufactured and shipped from duty free zones in Eastern Europe. As they are tax free they become really cheap even considering shipping cost involved. There is a small catch though, your country may levy you import duty.

However, look at these low points. First of all, one who smokes Marlboro regularly may find imported cheap Marlboro cigarettes tasting differently. This is something which the regular smokers don’t want to agree. This may not truly be the case as same brands are manufactured in similar fashion everywhere barring a few exceptions where regulations are slack or the franchisee manufacturers themselves circumnavigate the regulations. Sometimes, this may also be because the preservatives and additives not regulated in one country may be enjoying a valid status in another. But the difference may be attributed to be more because of the additional shelf and shipping time required than anything else.

There is another reason for cigarettes made in Eastern Europe to be cheap. The establishment and running costs there are pretty low when compared to establishing a similar sized factory in USA.

If you want to buy cheap cigarettes from your local shop you may be required to buy as many as 4-9 cartons in one go which isn’t the case in an online tobacco store where the basic price of a single carton itself is far lower than the lot you might have to purchase there locally.

Internationally, popular brands like Marlboro, Camel, Winston, 555 and many are clandestinely smuggled sneaking through duty nets. This is driven by popularity they enjoy all around but in the process countries loose what is legitimately their tax revenue. However, from cigarette smokers’ point of view, they have become cheap so that they can afford to enjoy these international brands. The estimated total revenue loss to governments stood at US$ 30 billions.

There are several reasons why cigarettes cheap or not do not differ irrespective of their origin. If there is something that doesn’t favor Eastern European cigarettes, it is the shipping time they take to arrive at your door. Usually they are shipped through registered mail which takes about 2-3 weeks to reach you in USA. However, this is not quite a difference to a cigarette enthusiast that smokes regularly because she or he always has the options to buy in bulk which still works in her or his favor. By the way, have you tasted discount menthol and Lm made in Eastern Europe yet?

florida cigarettes online
can i legally perchase cigarettes online from another country and have them shipped to me via fed-ex or ups.?

i live in florida looking for cheap smokes, any information for me is welcome. I also would like 2 know the legality of said situation.

I can only address the legality of the situation. It is not permitted unless you are licensed to import those. Both, Federal and State laws prohibit it. New York and California have both prosecuted people and imposed fines on individuals such as yourself who purchased not to resell but to smoke themselves. The reason, they say you did this to avoid taxes.

Sometimes the postal service gets involved too. California is very good at tracking cigarettes coming in from foreign countries, they are usually sold at 1/3 of the cost and are the same brand as the U.S.

So, it is very risky. Go to an Indian reservation, if you have one, where you live they will sell you up to two cartoons, there are no taxes, military bases sell them too, although even they are thinking about banning them.

honey cigarettes
I am looking for an old brand of Cigarettes I used to smoke in college; the pack was striped yellow and black.?

and we called them “bumblebees” although that was not what they were called, to my knowledge. The filter & quite possibly the tobacco itself had a honey flavor to it. Does anyone know what brand this is & where i might be able to buy them online?

wow that’s really cool, i want some! no I’ve never heard of them or seen them before. The company probably went out of business or stopped making those kinds of cigarettes.
