Cohiba Cigars?
I’m fairly new at cigar smoking and was wondering if you would recommend a Cohiba? I live in the US and cannot get the Cuban kind, only the Dominican Republic. I also dont know too much about the Cohibas you can get in the US so if you have info let me know, thanks
AV is giving you bad advice. As a veteran cigar smoker and friend of former tobacconists, I know Cubans are bad news unless you have a real fool-proof plan to get them (and everyone knows every keystroke on the internet can be monitered!)
Dominican Cohibas are fine, but I would really recommend something more unique and less “mainstream.”
For a beginner, I would recommend a CAO Gold or Anniversario.
You can also look into Punch, Rocky Patel Edge, Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, or pretty much anything by A. Fuente.
Check out the sampler packs from sites like
http://www.jrcigars.com
http://www.cigarbid.com
These both offer some of the best prices available, plus they have great deals on variety packs that you can’t normally get in your local tobacconist.
As a novice (no insult intended), you may want to stick to more of the Cameroon or Natural wrappers, then graduate into Maduros.
Also, Cigar Aficionado Magazine is a great resource… and great reading material to complement the perfect stick!
Cheers!
