Any way to get a bottle or a few of zippo lighter fluid for free?
Got my first zippo lighter finally and i need fuel for it and the closest place i know sells it is a smoke shop and its like a 2hr drive away. With this gas prices now i don’t want to drive that far plus its a pain. Any way to get it free from somewhere?
It isn’t the brand zippo but it’s that style someone told me you can use the same lighter fluid that you use for a grill, but that didn’t sound right.
I know it isn’t a hobbie or craft but there is no lighter category
can I get it at long’s, rite-aid etc.
or do I have to go to a cigar/liquor store
Only use fluid designed to be used in lighters. If you use the wrong kind, the results could be very dangerous. Different fluids have different flash points and combustion rates.
If it’s a lighter like my dad had, turn it over, slide the case off, and saturate the inside with the fluid. It should be some type of fibrous material. You’ll also need to get flints.
If you’re not sure how to fill it, you might be able to get help at a cigar shop.

Well I’ll put it this way…at room temperature butane is about 17lbs pressure. Propane is about 125Lbs pressure! That’s 4 times what there is in an average car tire!
I kinda’ think that little cheapy plastic lighter is a lot safer at 17lbs. Dont you? :^)
There is a certain amount of butane in propane. Propane burns a little hotter and cleaner. But the big advantage is that propane boils at a much lower temperature than butane so it can be used in colder temperatures with no reduction in burner output. Butane is pretty well useless if you get below 40 degrees or so…
How to Make a Butane Bottle Rocket (cigarette lighter + empty bottle = WOOSH!)
Lighting a cigar is equal parts art and science. For many smokers, it is the opening act in the smoking ritual and, in many ways, one of the most enjoyable. Zippo lighters are regarded by some as a poor way to light a cigar owing to the lighter fluid imparting a chemical taste to the tobacco. Other smokers claim that this is simply not true and wouldn’t use anything else to light their stogie. The individual should always feel free to make this determination for themselves.
Lighter fluid burns with a distinctive smell. It has an oily consistency which makes it highly-prized for its being able to burn in even very windy conditions. Lighter fluid has a taste which is detectable by some individuals and not at all detectable by others. Different fluids are said to affect this characteristic, as well. Whether or not this is true is entirely up to the individual to decide. Some cigar smokers would not for a minute consider giving up their prized Zippo; others would hesitate to light a fine cigar with anything other than a wooden match or a cedar strip.
The reason Zippos remain popular for outdoor use is that they are an inherently windproof lighter. The lighter fluid used to fuel them is slow to evaporate and is thick enough that it will stick to the wick and ignite even in very windy conditions. This makes them popular with sailors and fishermen.
As is the case with everything concerning cigars, whether or not to use a Zippo is a matter of personal preference. These lighters are often heirloom items and using them is something of a ritual for some people. If one should detect an unpleasant chemical taste fouling that of their favorite cigar, the solution may be to purchase a higher-end fluid. Some fluids advertise that they give no taste to the tobacco at all and, even among very discriminating smokers, these fluids are a popular option.
Some smokers claim that they can’t taste a thing and, if one is using one of the high-quality fluids, this is likely true. If a Zippo happens to be something to which one is very attached, consider using a high-end lighter fluid to ensure the best smoking experience. It’s not only good for taste; it’s good for the lighter.

At the “far end” of the e-cigarette, most models have incorporated an LED lighting mechanism that mimics the glow emitted by an actual tobacco cigarette or cigar when taking a puff. A clever addition that does more than just add a bit of aesthetic glitz to e-cigarette usage: as most smokers will acknowledge, a real addict becomes obsessed by almost all the aspects of the smoking process, and thus the inclusion of this detail in the e-cigarette design helps round out the simulation experience, further enticing smokers to pick up an e-cigarette instead of their old-faithful.
The largest component comes next, and is comprised by the e-cigarette’s battery and circuitry compartment. This would be the portion corresponding to the main part of the cigarette shaft. Though some e-cigarettes are discardable, most models come with rechargeable battery units (conveniently, manufacturers have made many available for recharge via either traditional wall plug-in or alternatively using a car lighter jack or even a USB charger).
Next up (moving towards the user’s mouth, that is) is the heating piece, which in the industry and among those in the know is referred to as the atomizer. This piece takes the nicotine liquid solution contained in the mouthpiece (the final piece which we will get to next) and brings it up to the correct heat to be vaporized, so that it can be inhaled along with the air you take in along with your drag.
Thus, obviously, the final piece is the mouthpiece itself, alternatively referred to as the cartridge. This is the “juice box” of the e-cigarette, where the yearned for nicotine burst is housed. The nicotine solution cartridges that are inserted herein can either be refillable or can be replaceable; furthermore, the solutions can come in different concentrations of nicotine-a person stuck on really strong cigarettes can get their stiff fix if needs be, whereas an “ultralights” smoker can get their light fix. Additionally, these solutions are offered in a wide variety of flavors, from very exotic and fruity concoctions to attempts at recreating the very flavor of a cigarette itself, with some narrowing in on the flavor of a particular brand. A lifelong Camel or Marlboro smoker (just to mention two common brands of cigarettes) can continue along with a familiar flavor, yet abandon all of the dangers of actual tobacco smoke.
In the end, e-cigarettes are a remarkable innovation that are winning over countless coverts every day as more and more people become aware of the tremendous benefits posed by this ingenious solution to the traditional smoker’s dilemma. So liberate yourself not only from the scourge of tobacco but furthermore from the stigma of being “the smoker” and enable yourself to follow your usual habits without worrying about getting berated by angry passersby or worse-your own colleagues or even your family! Try an e-cigarette today!
What are the basics of cigar smoking? How do you light a cigar? How do you draw on the cigar properly? Do you inhale? What are the dos and don’ts of cigar smoking? If you have ever pondered any of these questions, read on. Here is a simple and accessible primer designed to help you gain familiarity with the sometimes confusing, always enigmatic world of cigar smoking.
First Step: Lighting Up
First, all new cigar smokers should learn how to properly light a cigar. Use a clipper designed for cigars to clip off the edge of the head (the section you put to your mouth). If possible light the foot of your cigar with a cedar match. Avoid regular cigarette lighters. They produce a nasty odor that can linger and ruin a good cigar. If you must use a lighter, use butane lighter. These will keep the odor to a minimum. However, you should always strive to use a wooden match because lighters can easily taint the foot of your cigar. How do you light up? Simply strike a match and hold the edge of your cigar over the flame. Avoid touching the cigar to the fire, simply hold the cigar over the flame and draw deeply until the cigar is lit.
Second Step: Burn it down to a nub?
Should you burn your cigar down to a nub? Experts recommend you leave at least two inches to your cigar. Even the finest cigars will tend to get bitter if you let it burn all the way down. What about ashes? Should you knock the ashes off of your cigar? Rather than knocking the ashes off the edge, let the cigar rest in the ashtray when you’re not smoking it. The ashes will fall off naturally.
Third Step: Relax and Enjoy
A cigar should never be rushed. By design, cigars should be savored, preferably after dinner and with a glass of good brandy. Hold the cigar between your thumb and fingers—anything else might be considered bad taste. Also, don’t inhale deeply. The smoke should not reach your lung. This is very bad for your health, and it will not help you taste the cigar any better. Of course, you should always be considerate of those around you. If possible, smoke in the company of other cigar smokers. A good cigar can be enjoyed alone and even more so with friends.
I got ronson lighter fluid for my zippo, is it normal for the lighter to get really cold when filling it?
I always filled my zippo lighter with the zippo fluid and i ran out so the gas station only had ronson which i got. I am putting it in like it says to, apply pressure and such and i see fumes coming out of the lighter, like you would see on a hot day, the clear blurry kind and i hear a sound like shhh (because the can is pressurized so thats normal) then the lighter gets really cold and starts to have condensation. Is this normal with this lighter fluid/can? I have to dry off my lighter after doing this then i tried to light it and it didnt light, did i just not get enough fuel?
i filled it till liquid squirted out but it seemed to be there then evaporate instantly, i let my lighter sit because it began to get a snow like layer on the outside and now it wont light like it is new again
ok this is getting kinda nuts, i filled it completely then i lit it and flames went everywhere, like the whole lighter was on fire, now it wont light again, is it this weird fluid?
It is perfectly normal for your lighter to get cold when injecting any pressurized gas,the same thing happens when filling propane tanks. You may need to wait a little time for your lighter to work.Or you could light it with another flame source to dry out the flint.
