Portable DVD Player + DVB-T Player and Recorder very goodby A J Trading – on 07/17/2009

LCD tv is a lovely bit of kit, everything works a treat. the only downside is that the DVB (freeview) is set to default china and there is no auto-setup on start up so you have to go into the settings and change it to youre country. took a while to figure that out. otherwise thou very pleased, the games are brilliant, like going down memory lane if you had a commodore or atatri in the 80’s.

Would it hurt to elect one of these people to the House of Commons?

What’s this
By Alexander Panetta, The Canadian Press

OTTAWA – Talk about a party platform.

The Rhinos are back and they’re hoping to lure voters with the tantalizing promise of weekly orgasms – and marijuana in every pot. The Neorhino party promises to declare Spanish as Canada’s official language and pass legislation forcing Prime Minister Stephen Harper to go on a diet.

They’re proud of smoking pot, they draw their political inspiration from cigar-chomping comics and rock legends, and they want to get elected so they can stick it to “The Man.”

The new party – officially called neorhino.ca – is one of at least two groups claiming to be a reincarnation of the defunct Rhinocerous party that specialized in political satire.

Probably fit right in with our current batch of MPs..

Typically application for licenses and permits in Singapore can only be done after successful incorporation of your company; however, in a few instances, application for licenses and permits is done simultaneously with the application for name approval from Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), from which, the ACRA system will indicate if another approving authority is required to grant licenses or permits.

There are several businesses that will require licenses or permits to operate. Private schools, travel agencies, liquor distributors, moneylenders, banks, childcare centres, importers/exporters, wholesalers and retailers of liquors are some examples of businesses that require license or permits by the Singapore authorities.

We have provided here some info on businesses that commonly require licenses or permits. For more information on how to apply for licenses and permits for your business please email us or call our Business License Specialist at +65 6242 6533.

Financial or Funds Management Services

Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) oversees the issuance of licenses for financial and funds management services. There are essentially three types of licenses:

  • Capital Markets Services License for businesses that work with securities.
  • Commodity License issued for commodity trading agencies.
  • Financial Adviser License for financial firms that provide advisory services to the public.

Educational Institutions

Setting up an educational institution or to provide educational services usually requires one or more licenses to operate. Each of the licenses is issued by a different government authority; it can be the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and/or Ministry of Education.

Tobacco and Liquor Retails

You will need a separate license to sell tobacco and liquors in Singapore. A Tobacco Retail License issued by Health Sciences Authority of Singapore will permit you to sell cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products. Each license issued is only for a single retail outlet. If you have multiple retail shops, you will need to obtain licenses for all of them.

There are different types of liquor licenses with each type for specific business activity. A Wholesale Beer License is just for wholesaling of beers and therefore different from a Retail Beer License. Depending on the nature of your business establishment, Asiabiz can assist you in finding the appropriate business license.

Restaurants

All food related businesses are required to have a Food Shop License from National Environment Agency (NEA), which will conduct an inspection prior to issuing a license. There are other licenses that are required based on the food and beverages that will be served in the restaurant.

Travel Agencies

Travel agencies in Singapore that sell tickets for individuals or groups to travel outside of Singapore are required to obtain a travel agent’s license with Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Are Thompson Cigar Humidors any good?

If so, are their house brands any good? They’ve been around since 1915 so thats comforting, but but there are few and varied reviews online. If not, where would i find a good humidor?

They are the same ones you will find anywhere else. I like mine.
They have so many of their house brands it’s hard to tell you which are really good. I have never had a bad cigar from them but some are better than others. Some are absolutely as good as the major brands. Some are just OK everyday cigars.

Windproof lighters are fantastic gadgets that ensure you can enjoy your preferred pastime no matter what the weather might be doing. However, you will eventually have to refill that lighter, no matter how much or how little you use it. While you might think you have a firm grasp on the refilling process, many smokers do not know whether the lighter can be lit directly after being refilled. Understanding the importance of this is vital. Here, you will find a handy guide to refilling that will answer your questions about immediate use.

First, you should not strike your lighter immediately after refilling it. This is because the lighter fluid is cold after being compressed by the propellant. Allowing the fluid to come to room temperature before you light is a very good idea. In addition, this will allow any spilled fluid (overspray) to evaporate, so that it does not catch fire and cause you injury.

How does the process work? First, hold the lighter upside down, so that the filler nozzle is visible. Keep it well away from your eyes. Next, insert the tip of the fuel canister into the fuel nozzle on the base of the lighter. Please note that some manufacturers recommend shaking your fuel canister prior to refueling your lighter while others do not. Read the can’s label carefully to determine what you should do.

When the canister is fully seated on the nozzle, press it down. You will hear a hiss as the fuel begins moving from the can to the lighter. You will also notice the can grow quite cool in your hands, as will the lighter. Keep the flow of fuel intact for about five seconds before disengaging the canister. This helps to avoid overfilling the lighter.

Once the lighter is full, remove the canister and allow the lighter’s contents to warm to room temperature. Once this occurs, you can adjust the flame height to your desired setting and ignite the lighter. If the lighter does not light, then you will need to repeat the refilling process. After each refill, you should ensure that the lighter and its contents are able to reach room temperature before you attempt to light the lighter again.

Buying a gift can be a confusing activity. Anyone has to buy at least once in his life a birthday present. I think there are no exceptions on this one. No matter how well you know someone, you will struggle to buy a beautiful gift to impress in a kind way.

Usually people keep browsing and browsing but the perfect gift happens to be unreachable. More than that, if it is a special occasion like the 50th birthday, dilemma turns to a real problem.

The gift ideas are various and inspired at Perfect Birthday Presents. For sample, a bottle of wine as a 40th birthday gift is a very good choice. Buy some great wine for your beloved one. You can make the bottle customized or you can discuss with others and listen to their opinions and maybe you can find even more special ideas.

The perfect birthday presents are different from one age to another. You simply cannot offer a bottle of wine to a person who is just twelve years old. You can easily find many viable presents ideas. Share your useful and unique ideas with others interested in finding and offering birthday gifts.

You can visit the following categories: People, Albums, Blogs, Articles, Group, Forum, Videos, Events, Classifieds. You can also visit the Directory section, the live chat, Quizzes and Polls. You have also the opportunity to edit and upload images. All available for free at Perfect Birthday Presents.

You do not have to loose all the joys in life just because you are aging. Keep your mind young that is all that matters anyway. So if you choose a birthday present try not to be too formal, you can kindly impress with innovative birthday presents.

There is no problem to find great ideas for this type of events. You can find really cool gifts. Uniqueness counts one way or another. Happiness never gets out of style, it is very cheap it is the best birthday present. You can also get cigars, rocking chairs any gadget he or she might like, but by offering something you did personally, I think this is the ultimate gift.

The 30th birthday presents are usually different than the 60th birthday gifts. You can discuss with your friends about those things and you can come up with new ideas in order to obtain what you need. Be careful because 50 or 60 years old individuals are not so interested in receiving expensive gifts they are more interested in handmade gifts.

Forget about the money! Be smart, find something special for a special day at low costs, is possible! Buy some great 50th birthday gifts and enjoy the freedom. Stay focused and interested and you will definitely find the best solution!

cigar brands and ratings

Friday, May 8th, 2009

The cigar ratings supplied by publications like Cigar Magazine and Cigar Aficionado form an important part of the modern cigar industry. For cigar smokers, these ratings provide guidance in a crowded market.

As pressed-for-time moviegoers may look to Roger Ebert for guidance at the multiplex, smokers use the magazines’ ratings to cut down on their in-store browsing time. For cigar makers, meanwhile, the ratings can be the touch of life – or the kiss of death. When Cigar Aficionado gave a high rating to a Fuente Spanish Lonsdale cigar, the magazine’s imprimatur helped to cause a run on the brand, rendering it scarce and highly sought-after and increasing the profile of Fuente’s cigars in general. Every cigar maker covets a 90-or-higher rating from these influential judges.

But where do these numbers actually come from? For staffers at Cigar Aficionado, the reviewing process starts at the store. While music and book reviewers are often given free “review copies” of CDs or books (a practice that makes things convenient for the reviewer, but also diminishes his or her independence), Cigar Aficionado tries to buy cigars at close to retail prices.

This leads to big cigar bills for the magazine – but it also means the cigars they review are as much like the ones you buy at the store as is possible. (Unlike CDs or books, of course, every cigar is slightly different in composition and taste.) Sometimes, if a cigar is hard to find in stores, the magazine will request “review cigars”; ditto for cases when the magazine is trying to preview a cigar before it hits stores.

The members of the panel – all of them longstanding magazine staffers – are told nothing about the identity, price range, source, or country of origin of the cigar. A “tasting coordinator” – not a member of the panel – removes the cigar’s band so that it cannot be identified by the panel’s members.

The blank, anonymous cigar is then assigned a number so that its identity can be retrieved after it’s rated. The members of the tasting panel then retire, separately, to their offices to smoke the cigars without consulting each other. Each member of the panel assigns the cigar a certain number of points, based on its performance in any of four categories.

First of all, cigars are rated by APPEARANCE and CONSTRUCTION. Is the cigar visually pleasing? Is the wrapper smooth, or wadded-looking? Is it moist to the touch or dry? Does it stay firm? Is it veiny or soggy? After all, a great-tasting cigar that wilts the minute you take it out of the box, or looks too unappetizing to be placed in someone’s mouth, does smokers no good. Cigars can win up to 15 points in this category for being well-made and attractive.

Secondly, of course, the cigar is rated on its FLAVOR – a category that carries with it 25 of the possible 100 points. Who needs a good-looking but brackish cigar? Cigars should not taste bitter or leave a nasty aftertaste. Both taste and aftertaste should be smooth but full, complicated, and rich.

A maximum of 25 points can be won for various qualities ranged together under the general heading of SMOKING CHARACTERISTICS. How does it burn? Is it hard to light? Does it burn one-sidedly? Will the smoke burn your mouth, or feel cool and comfortable as it should? How hard do you have to pull to get a mouthful? All these questions and more are considered.

Finally, the tasters each give a score (up to 35 points) for OVERALL IMPRESSION. (Flavor counts most here.) Is the cigar good, bad – or great? And the question utmost in any dedicated smoker’s mind – is it worth the money? The panel’s various scores in each category are averaged and a final score is the result.

Ratings, of course, are always subjective, depending on individuals’ taste – even if those individuals have well-developed, highly educated tastes. Your mileage may vary. For any smoker, the ultimate authority should always be your own tastebuds!
