Anyone know cameras?

I’m going to take a course on photography and I’m looking for a certain type of camera. I saw one at Walmart that I like (although I don’t like walmart). It’s a digital camera, but it has the place to put regular film in, also. Before I buy this camera, I need to know if there’s a better camera I could buy. My limit is $200 (I know, cheap). I’m not into those little bitty cigarette pack-sized cameras. I need something sturdy but reliable with the option of removable lens. I’ve contacted every local photographer and they were absolutely no help. It would be awesome if someone with photography experience could help me on this!

I keep wondering what camera you saw in WallyWorld that shoots film as well as digital. I have to believe you are mistaken about that. There was a Kodak APS film camera that showed you the picture on the back screen, but that was review only, the image was only recorded on film. Hassy makes a medium format camera with an interchangeable digital back, needless to say, you won’t be finding something like that at a regular retailer,

No $200 digicam will have interchangeable lenses. You have to have an SLR for that. You can get a Nikon D40 with the kit lens for about $600 at B & H Photo. Or you can visit www.keh.com to look for a used camera.

If you can use a film camera, they are abundant and cheap, you can get a great used film SLR for pennies on the dollar. Or a new Canon film Rebel for under $200 at WalMart

Go to www.dpreview.com or www.stevesdigicams.com to research different cameras by features, specs, and see reviews.

Good luck!

Jamaica, located in the Caribbean Sea, not far from Cuba, is an island well known for its historic tradition of cigar manufacturing. The distribution of cigars, throughout the United States and the rest of the world, has been conducted from Jamaica for hundreds of years. The strong tradition and culture of Jamaican cigars is world renowned. For those of us who enjoy smoking cigars, there is no greater pleasure than a cigar which has been hand-rolled using premium Jamaican tobacco. The climate and soil of Jamaica is very similar to that of Cuba.  This led to a strong and thriving tobacco industry.  The tobacco leaves grown in Jamaica are used to create fine Jamaican cigars using centuries old methods.  In past years, the cigar industry was one of the most successful industries in Jamaica, but economic and weather conditions led to a decline in the Jamaican cigar industry.  These conditions included an increase in labor costs as well as a severe hurricane in 1988.  If it were not for the efforts of Barrington House Premium Jamaican Cigars, the Jamaican cigar industry might have collapsed entirely and the rich, historic tradition of Jamaica cigars would have been lost.

Barrington Adams, of Barrington House Premium Jamaican Cigars, has been the source of the revival of cigar manufacturing in Jamaica. He took the charge of Barrington House in order to give something back to his native Jamaica. Barrington Adams was a successful businessman in New York City, when he traveled to Jamaica in the 1990s to discover the cigar industry in a state of near collapse.  Jimmy Chang, who had risen to near cult-like status as the master blender for the Cuban Montecristo and left Cuba after the revolution to settle in Jamaica to run the heralded Combined Tobacco Company, had suffered a severe stroke and was extremely disabled.  Mr. Adams discovered that the employees of Combined Tobacco had not been paid for over six months.  Mr. Adams then took over the company, changing the name to Barrington House Premium Jamaican Cigars.   Making a determination to lead the Jamaican cigar industry back to its former status as one of the world’s premier sources of fine cigars, Mr. Adams reinvests 100% of the income derived from sales back into the company.  For him, it is a labor of love and a chance to give back to the land which always retained a special place in his heart.

Barrington House is the only producer of true Jamaican premium cigars.  Other companies may label their cigars “Jamaican” or “Jamaica”, but only Barrington House manufactures premium cigars in Jamaica, hand-rolled, using only the finest prime Jamaican tobacco.

Barrington House has created several lines of premium cigars, ranging from those that use Jamaican leaf as filler to the reintroduction of the famous Santa Cruz Jamaican Puro.  The fine art and traditions used by Barrington House employ the finest blends, such as that used in the original Jamaican Macanudo first blended by Jimmy Chang (Barrington House is not presently associated with Macanudo which is now a registered trademark owned by General Cigar Company). Jimmy Chang’s original Jamaican blend is available as the “Guaranteed Jamaican Founders Edition” and as the vintage “Fundadores” available through Barrington House.

Barrington House has brought back the finest traditions of the Jamaican cigar industry, long known for fine and mild tobaccos and the highest quality smoking experience.

class c cigarettes

Maybe you smoke and you like it. Maybe you want to keep on smoking but can’t take smoking outdoors in the freezing cold or the broiling sun. Maybe your family or office has made you into a second class citizen who has to “take it outside” and can’t smoke in your own home. Well, that’s all changed because of electronic cigarettes.

The electronic cigarette is the new way to smoke without tar, smoke, fire, or smell. You get all the flavor and satisfaction with electronic cigarettes but without the part that makes smoking so offensive to others and tough on the lungs. It’s because electronic cigarettes (or electric or e-cigarette) are very similar to the function and taste of a traditional tobacco cigarette. The electronic cigarette works in the same fashion as it’s tobacco based cousin except that it uses vapor with nicotine. There is no fire, no smell and no tar.

Electronic cigarettes create water vapor from a liquid with nicotine. You can choose from 0 Mg of nicotine to 16 Mg in most brands. Sixteen Mg is about equal to the strongest unfiltered cigarettes. When the user inhales the nicotine vapor, it gives them the same taste and feel of a regular cigarette but doesn’t contain all of the thousands of deadly chemicals that regular cigarettes do. There is no tar, and no carbon monoxide because there is nothing burnt as you smoke.

One of the best features of electronic cigarettes is the fact that you can also use electric cigarettes almost anywhere. Since the smoking regulations only regulate the use of smoking products that contain tobacco, you are able to get your nicotine fix almost anywhere. Non smokers should not mind as there is no smell and no second hand smoke. You may never go outside in the cold to smoke again.

Best of all, you save money. Most electronic cigarettes cost about half of what regular cigarettes cost to smoke. Most smokers will save over $1,000.00 per year.

Worried about trying them? Most top brands come with a money back guarantee so you can try them and see if they are right for you.

So, don’t stop smoking of you don’t want to, just stop smoking like they did 300 years ago and let technology give you all the pleasure of smoking with none of the draw backs. They even come in fashion colors and lots of flavors like coffee, menthol, apple and more. Try getting that from a traditional cigarette.

If you are a smoker or know a smoker, these make great gift. The starter packs with everything you need cost about $60 top $150 depending on brand.

2 cigarettes a day
Health problems with one or 2 cigarettes a day?

I am 16 years old and have been smoking around 2 cigarettes a day. I know smoking is bad for me I live in australia where cigarettes packs are literally 80% covered in anti smoking mesages and pictures of cancerous Mouthe’s and stuff. I am not here to be told to quit because I Know I should and I want to. but my question is realistically is it even bad for my health to have 1 or 2 smokes a day. I know the risk of getting more and more hooked is relevant but my question is can smoking 1 or 2 cigarettes a day be all that bad for my health?

Simple answer is yes, even 2 ciggies a day is bad for you. Doctors work on something called pack years. It is a calculation based on how many you smoke a day and for how long, by calculating the pack years they can determine how much shorter your life expectancy is.

Seriously I started at about 8 yrs old (40 yrs ago) , until 18 months ago I was a 20 a day man. Best thing I ever did was to give up. I still love the smell but know I can never again have “just 1″

2 cigarettes per day ok …!!

vintage cigars
Port wine, truffles, and a cigar- Too much?

My boyfriend & I are looking for a decadent way to end a fine meal we plan to have. How does this sound?: Fonseca Tawny 10 yr. Port, a couple of dark chocolate truffles, and a cigar afterwards. Any reccomendations on port & truffle combinations? Is adding a cigar afterwards too much? Neither of us have actually had any port wine before, but looking forward to trying it! I don’t want anything vintage, don’t want to deal with decantering & the price! Thanks!

the cigar is a perfect end to a decadent meal! My best reccomondation for the port wine is to go to a reputable store and ask the person who knows the most about wines. Explain your plan, telling him or her about the cigar and the truffles. This way they can find you a port that is reasonable, tasty, and goes well with the rest of the meal.

Poker fans may enjoy collecting Poker Art, and there is a large enough industry churning out anything from Super Mario chip art to stylish monochrome photographs with titles such as Gunslinger and No Chance. Most of it, however, is primarily commercial products, with little or no nuance to entice the eye of a connoisseur.

What the serious poker player – with an eye for the game’s complex aesthetics – may have a general interest in whenever he is not busy challenging a worthy rival is poker in art: but does good art exist which is significantly related to poker?

Despite its immense popularity, worthwhile references to the game in art are rare and some admirers cherish them with the elite pride of the devotees of some wonderful esoteric practice. Poker in music, to my knowledge, features mainly in modern compositions, but there does not seem to be much possibility for its expression in sound. The more successful efforts are usually accompanied by video, and these are restricted to MTV clips. There are many songs which reference poker, but these offer mostly a half-hearted solace, composed by well meaning fans or even by poker pros that are not necessarily great with words or music.

The most significant poker-inspired artwork in music I am familiar with, and one which by its nature ideally fuses music with visuals, is The Card Party: Ballet in Three Deals, first danced by Balanchine’s American Ballet Ensemble. Music by Stravinsky, who enjoyed poker as pastime, it is one of the rarer curiosities poker admirers might want to see, though it is more fanciful than accurate in representing the process of playing cards.

In painting form, the most obvious example is Cassius Coolidge’s series of Dogs Playing Poker. These were part of an order for 19 commercially oriented paintings using anthropomorphized dogs. Nowadays, it is not even the original paintings which are iconic so much, as the general concept of cigar-smoking canines around a table in a dim-lit club.

In fact, many works of art tend to stylize poker and card games in general, blending them with fantastic themes. The most obvious example would be Alice in Wonderland. One of Alexander Pushkin’s most popular stories is The Queen of Spades which concerns a player desperate to learn a card trick he had heard about from a friend. The story begins as realism and culminates as a sort of card-game horror: the man is so desperate to learn the secret from the old widow guarding it that he threatens her with a pistol (unloaded), unintentionally causing her to die of fear. At the funeral, her corpse opens its eyes and glares at him; then her ghost visits him at his house and discloses the secret. In his first game afterwards the man doubles his possessions. He plays another, but though he knows he was holding an ace, somehow, he appears to have played a queen and lost everything. He is then committed to room 17 of an asylum, raving: Three, seven, ace! Three, seven, queen!. For the film buffs, there is a BAFTA-nominated 1949 British adaptation fantasy-horror adaptation of the story by Thorold Dickinson.

In film, poker tends to be criminally realistic (though not necessarily more accurate), from Cincinnati Kid to Rounders, with Edward Norton and Matt Damon. The last did moderately in the box office but has become a cult film precisely because of its decent depiction of the playing process. Three years earlier Martin Scorsese gave us a memorable sequence in Casino where a pair of con poker players are expertly detected and deprived of the ability to cheat in any near future by means of a hammer and De Niro’s efficient poker-face threats.
