small cigarette vending machine

A cowboy with a samurai sword? Could it be true; that there is a beef product that will actually lower your cholesterol??? That’s like smoking a cigarette that’s good for your lungs. Or having a double martini that’s good for your liver. I think the latest one is chocolate is good for the heart. Caffeine is always and off and on good for you, changes every day. An egg a day is good for cholesterol, yes, I’ve heard that one. Or pork, the white meat…what on earth happened to its blood? Must be pig vampires out there. I’m still holding out until they say ice cream is good for our cholesterol and heart, and then I can die peacefully in Peter’s deli in heaven.
But to my surprise and dismay, Kobe beef, also known as Wagyu beef. The white beef, named so because of its fat content, the foie gras of beef, the champagne of wines has indeed been listed as reducing cholesterol. This was brought to my attention by Mr. Mark Hoegh , (http://www.kobe-beef.com/) after he read an article of mine. In that article, I mentioned that America has become obsessed with the fat content in meat as the best. The more the fat, the better the cut, the better the cut, the pricier the steak. And I am no vegetarian; I love prime rib, rib eye and all the rest of our bovine friends. It’s just that they’re so damn good because of the fat, and that fat equal cholesterol. And for me, because of heart failure, that equals very bad news. And I believe that is the case for most Americans, and that is why we have become a very fat, obese nation. A nation where schools have to ban the selling of junk foods by vending machines just to keep our youngsters in check. A sad state of affairs indeed.
I write this as a heart attack victim because of cholesterol. I believe cholesterol to be mostly genetic, but I don’t think that the excesses of our society helps in any way. It compounds the problem and you can look at my other blogs to see my opinions on that. Moderation is the name of the game. But moderation was never my middle name, and I paid for it, brought up in NY, Italian sausage and pizza were a staple. Who doesn’t love steaks, ribs and bacon? I won’t even get started on the salt issue. I am as weak as the next normal Joe in the world, it’s jus t that I NOW know the difference of what is good and what is bad because of what I deal with in a day to day life with congestive heart failure. And I do know that meat and cooking oils of any kind are not good for you. But we need to cook and we need to eat, so olive oil becomes one of our champions in this field.
And it seems, open up the wallets everyone, that Kobe beef has become the champion of beef in dealing with cholesterol. I hope I don’t get any more grief about this, I just report to the best of my knowledge what I have read on this subject. To tell you the truth, If I was fed on sake and beer , natural feed and given a massage every day with no hormones, I think I’d be pretty damn tasty too, well maybe not tasty, but I’d be feeling pretty good.
On numerous sites, the scientific evidence was presented to me in bold letters, Kobe beef is a genetic thing, its fat is different, and so it seems true, unless the media has been taken over by shoguns. It seems the fat in Kobe beef is high in oleic acids and also higher in monounsaturated fat to the ratio of saturated fat which will actually aid in lowering cholesterol. Hard to believe, but while reading these articles, I noticed the words, omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9. I thought that was just reserved to our aquatic ancestors, well live and learn.
So to all of my meat eating friends out there, although I do not endorse the practice, eat your piece of Kobe beef and enjoy it too. I cannot ignore the evidence and statistics that have outnumbered my opinions on the subject of the white beef. You may feel the pinch in your wallet by buying this delicacy. I’m sure you’ll add a few pounds, but you can feel secure in your knowledge of lowering your cholesterol. And of course, my thanks to go out to Mr. Mark Hoegh of Kobe Beef America, in pointing out the facts in this matter.
