Have you been charged with felony tax evasion for buying cheap Cigarettes?

My 60 yr. old mother has. Pennsylvania put a sting operation out on my MOM and busted her at the Post Office. Turns out only a Native American can buy tax-free cigarettes. If you are in possession of more than 1 carton, it is a class 4 felony. If you buy any at all, you have 30 days to send in $1 per pack plus the tax for your state (7% in PA, 8% in NY). Because the cigarettes were mailed, mom is being charged with a federal crime and PA State Tax Evasion. She has to pay the taxes, penalties + $300 per carton in fines or go to jail for 5 years. She and my father are poor, hard-working honest people that have never broken a law in their life. Can you believe it??? My mom the tax-evading felon. Unreal. Thought you’d want to know. I didn’t even know it was illegal.
If you buy tax-free cigarettes, you have to submit the taxes on them or you are committing tax evasion. Check Canadian Law. They are cracking down too.

this is unbelievable it sounds like the government doing this crap are the law breakers how can this be legal in a country that is supposed to be the symbol of freedom? what has happened to America where did our rights go? i’m sorry about your mom i will have her in prayers and thoughts. i wonder how many murderers,rapist, child abusers and such got by scott free why they were so busy trying to bust someone who was buying cigarettes she really sounds like a hard core criminal doesn’t she? this really makes my blood boil and i wonder where my tax money is going if your poor mother is being under servelence while real criminals run free. i’m really sorry and i wish you and her the best
