How can I sing with a rock-ier edge in my voice?
I live to sing. It’s my dream to be a recording artist. My problem is my voice sounds very pop when I’m more into rock (think Paramore, Flyleaf, Meg and Dia, Tegan and Sara… female frontwomen like that).
Are there any exercises, techniques, etc,. to make my voice sounds a little more rock -minus the cigars and whiskey (lol)!
I’m a Part One Soprano too (the highest part in a SSATB music song), so I’m able to go very high.
I’ve got 4 octave range.
I almost hate to say it but practice, practice, practice. The more you sing in the style that you like, the better you will get. A good sound engineer with decent equipment can enhance your voice electronically to sound edgier than it does naturally, but your best bet is to develop that yourself. Work at it regularly, but don’t push or strain. Yeah, stay away from the cigars and whiskey, they do more harm than good.
