zippo lighters on ebay
putting lighter fuel into a zipper like lighter?

so I got this lighter from ebay, its made by a company called star and it came with fuel…the problem is that i can’t get the inside unit out of the thing and so i can’t put fuel in it. The directions to are in japanese and if someone can read it then i’ll scan it in but otherwise, its just a normal zippo like lighter.
well i can barely wiggle it, is it suppose to do that? are they suppose to be that hard?

You will have to, that is the only way to fill them. Or just get a genuine Zippo because then you know you’re getting quality and not a mass produced $.39 ripoff one.

Get some pliers and put a rag or paper towel over the jaws so you don’t mar the metal. Then gently pull until it comes out.

Those pay day loans come to mind when a creditor is demanding to be paid ASAP or you end up worse than Shane Hurlbut at the hands of Christian Bale, but if you pay that debt, you end up in the streets because you won’t be able to pay the rent. It is a no win situation wherever angle you look at. Your only hope is that fast loan that zoom money to your bank account faster than Tokyo’s fastest bullet trains.

To Get a Loan or Not; That’s Not the Question

When in this terrible fix, people have no recourse but take out pay day loans. They might plead another loan from family and friends if they’re not onion-skinned. Or they may sell or hock their prized Zippo lighters collection just to get a good night’s sleep and not worry about a Christian Bale look-alike hovering in the shadows. If they are smart they’ll do odd jobs to raise the needed amount but if there is little time to do so, those loans can bail them out.

But if the issue is money for a dinner date or to buy a twinkling star in the galaxy, there’s no need to rush yourself to get super fast pay day loans. You can always postpone your date or save money for that star because these things can wait. Your date will be willing to walk the park with you and as for the star, there are still billions up there so there is no real hurry.

The question is not whether you’re going to get a loan, but the questions you should ask yourself are – “Do I really need these fast loans to save my life?” and “Will I be able to pay the loan on time?” If the answer to the first question is yes then you must be brutally honest if you can pay those pay day loans.

Manage Your Fast Cash

When people need money that fast, they overlook the risks. This careless attitude lands them in trouble. So if you are contemplating a loan and this is your first time to get one, heed these tips to help you manage those loans:

– Don’t get a two-week period for the payback if you think the remaining money from your paycheck won’t be enough to cover your needs for two weeks. Instead, go for a four week payback program. You won’t be stressed out worrying about an unpaid loan and the ballooning interest rates. In four weeks time you’ll find money for your pay day loans.

– From your next paycheck, get half of the amount you borrowed and plough it into your bank account and forget about it. Think of it as money spent or money you have to pay the lender and pray nothing happens while the money is sitting in the bank. That money represents half of the money you owe and you still need another half plus interest to get rid of the loan.

– Don’t mislead yourself to believe that a miracle might save you so you spend the money intended for the lender. Be realistic.

– Use the money as intended with your pay day loans. You have your old debt and have a tireless interest accumulator. Interests for these types of loans don’t sleep. Instead of worrying about $100, you’re now looking at a $200+interest loan. If you want to stay sane, pay your loan and this time, it’s better early than late.

One of the more entertaining aspects of owning an iPhone is the plethora of apps that are available for your use and enjoyment. Some of them are really helpful, informative, or at least interesting: weather updates, celeb gossip, directions, movie times, etc. Then there are the completely superfluous apps that make you scratch your head and wonder why anyone would ever need that — right before you download it yourself.

iBeer is probably one of the most pointless apps, yet everyone seems to have it. It’s an app that turns your screen into a full pint glass of beer, and you can “drink” it by tilting your iPhone downwards. The beer then flows out of the pint glass. Sounds simple enough, yet it’s enough to reduce grown men to giggles when they all use it.

Tickle Me! is another app that seems to be mainly for the amusement factor – even if that factor does wear off pretty quickly. The app enables your touchscreen to respond to you tickling it, with a slightly irritating child’s laugh.

One that still makes no sense is Hold On, an app where you hold your finger in one spot on the touch screen for as long as you can. That’s it. This could probably be amusing for a bunch of drunken people who are pretending to be sober, but that’s about it.

Everyone loves to pop bubble wrap, which is most likely why the Bubble Wrap app is so popular. It just fills your screen with bubble wrap that you “pop” by touching each bubble.

While this one doesn’t do it anything useful, it certainly is cool – the PhoneSaber. It basically turns your touchscreen into a light saber, complete with visuals and sounds. It’s pretty awesome, yet there seems to be limited things you can do with it. Challenge your friends to a duel, maybe?

One that may seem silly, but has popped up at concerts and rock shows a lot lately, is the Virtual Zippo. Gone are the days when you hold up a lighter at shows if something moves you – now you have the virtual version. This is admittedly better than people just holding up their cell phones, which has always looked silly.

CoinFlip is another that goes into the “is that really necessary?” category, yet everyone seems to have it. It does exactly what its name indicates – it flips a coin.

A pretty amusing app is the Abacus, which seemingly goes against everything the iPhone really is – cutting edge technology. But again, maybe for the drunk folks trying to figure out how much money they have at the end of the night, this might work.

Too tired to yell enthusiastically for your sports team of choice? Then the “Wooo!” app may be for you. It’s a button that shows up on your touchscreen, and every time you hit it, a tinny voice says “wooo!” Very exciting.

Lastly, there is the I Can Has Cheezburger app, which sends you an update every time there’s a new location posted. Who doesn’t need that?

There’s something compelling about some of these iPod touch apps, even though they do absolutely nothing useful, and in fact, just mostly take up space on your iPhone or iPod touch. However trivial some of these applications may seem, they offer enjoyment to the hundreds of thousands of users who download them. After all, isn’t that the point of these applications?

zippo lighter history
45-50 YEAR OLD ZIPPO LIGHTER”BABE RUTH”?

I have found this cig lighter when i was 15 in upstate NY, inscribed on the front of it is “BABE RUTH – MANAGER MILLS” any help on history / value etc of this lighter, Have contacted ZIPPO four and again three years ago, never got a reply from them, any HELP.

I did a Google search and nothing really came up except newspaper articles from 1932 and 1956, both containing “Manager Mills” and “Babe Ruth”, baseball related. So if the lighter was Babe Ruth’s or something, there’s a chance that it has a lot of value to it. I’d read the articles on the site but you have to be a paying member to do that.

zippo lighters refilling
What do you use to refill a zippo lighter?

It isn’t the brand zippo but it’s that style someone told me you can use the same lighter fluid that you use for a grill, but that didn’t sound right.
I know it isn’t a hobbie or craft but there is no lighter category
can I get it at long’s, rite-aid etc.
or do I have to go to a cigar/liquor store

Only use fluid designed to be used in lighters. If you use the wrong kind, the results could be very dangerous. Different fluids have different flash points and combustion rates.

If it’s a lighter like my dad had, turn it over, slide the case off, and saturate the inside with the fluid. It should be some type of fibrous material. You’ll also need to get flints.

If you’re not sure how to fill it, you might be able to get help at a cigar shop.
