Electronic Cigarettes – The Smoking Alternative!’ at first, I found the idea of electronic smoking laughable, as would most tobacco users. However , after pulling my husband over to the booth for a look, it only took us a moment to realize that this was a truly revolutionary invention. Shockingly, the price was reasonable, too!

the vendor made it obvious that it was not meant as a smoking conclusion device, only a much safer and less expensive way to smoke. To date, there isn’t any scientific evidence that they are safer, but it did not take a degree in complicated to see that the lack of smoke, tar and a couple of thousand other ingredients – including the 60-70 known cancer agents and poisons found in tobacco – made the flavored nicotine liquid appear tame in contrast. Moreover, the facility to scale back the nicotine levels from high, medium and low to liquid containing no nicotine whatsoever was an appealing way to wean off nicotine altogether.

naturally, as quickly as I got our new devices home, I had to log online to see what I could find out about them.

the first thing I found was a wide range of different devices and liquids available and not all devices are created equal.

‘I feel free of cigarettes for the 1st time in my life,’ declared James Solie, of Hudson, WI. Solie announced his life has changed in so many ways since he has quit smoking. ‘I used to go to bed at night and could smell the smoke on myself, and it wasn’t good. I don’t miss that. I just feel better in each way possible. I breathe better, don’t have that unpleasant congestion in the morning. My throat feels better. My sense of smell, thus taste, is much better.’ Solie added that his wife is cheerful that he has stop smoking, too.

the indisputable fact that personal vaporizer owners are not smoking is tricky for non-smokers and smoke-free recommends to grasp, because vapor looks equivalent in appearance to smoke. Thus many recommends welcomed contemporary reports of the FDA’s suggested ban on certain electronic cigarettes, due to safety concerns, and proposed bans on their use in public spaces in municipalities in the Big Apple, Connecticut and Oregon. Vaporizer owners fear the public has been falsely given to understand that personal vaporizers aren’t any different than tobacco cigarettes.

Electronic cigarettes may save many lives, providing the FDA doesn’t make them illegal. Responsible vaporizer owners are mystified about the reactions to the revolutionary device, and hope that as the public becomes more informed, they’ll be more certainly received.

Where can I buy american cigarettes in the UK?

I live in England and would like to buy marlboro menthol 100 cigarettes.
Where can I do so?
Is there an online store that sells cigarettes and ships from the US?
Or do they make marlboro menthol 100s in the uk?
I want the full flavor ones not the menthol lights.

There is a cigarette boutique in Selfridges, Oxford Street.
Also, there used to be one in Victoria street, near Victoria station but not sure if it is still there

We have all heard about the Waterford Crystal ball dropped in Times Square, New York, for New Year’s eve, but what about dropping the lighted strawberry from Hilton Harrisburg and Towers, in downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania?

Fishermen may gather in Port Clinton, Ohio to see the 20 foot, 600 pound walleye (fish) dropped from the sky, or the live possum in a cage in Brasstown, North Carolina, or a giant crab in Plymouth.

For something a little quieter you may pop over to Raleigh, North Carolina and witness the drop of a massive copper acorn, or the giant gumbo pot dropped in the Mississippi.

A 2007 sprint racing car is dropped 130 feet, in Port Royal, but in Carlisle, Pennsylvania they drop an Indy car.

At a non-alcoholic night of celebration, a red rose is dropped in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, while York prefers to use a white rose.

There is an 800 pound peach dropped in Atlanta, while Bethlehem, in Pennsylvania chooses to drop a 25 pound marshmallow candy. In Plymouth, Wisconsin they use a huge cheese to celebrate.

Along in Lebanon, Pennsylvania you get to see the drop of a 7 ½ foot edible bologna, before it is donated to local charities. In Elmore, Ohio they drop an 18 foot sausage from the sky and in Mount Olive, North Carolina a three foot high glowing pickle drops 45 feet.

Drinkers of martinis can watch a huge olive dropped from Price Tower, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, into a martini glass.

Now if food and drink is not to your taste you may prefer a pirate ‘wench’ dropped seventy foot from a schooner in the harbor, or the Drag Queen Sushi, dropped in her glittering six foot high heeled shoe, Key West, Florida.

When you have had enough of all this dropping, you might be entertained by the New Year’s panty drop. However, they didn’t give us a location for this one, which is probably just as well.

The rest of us we will just have to settle for the usual fireworks, bonfire and maybe a balloon drop or two. No matter how you choose to celebrate New Year, let’s all hope and pray that 2009 has some good things for us all.

Postscript:

The lists of New Year celebration drops doesn’t stop with the above whacky ideas. There are a total of 19 states in the US celebrating with a drop. Pennsylvania tops the list with a total of 36 cities and towns ‘dropping’ New Year’s eve. There is still no clear explanation as to where all this dropping of the last few seconds of New Year’s eve originated, except perhaps the ball starting in Times Square in 1907.

The list of whacky articles dropped for New Year include:

· Anchor, Antique trunk and Apple,

· Bag of potato chips, Beach ball, Bottle of Yuengling beer, Boasted chicken,

· Canal boat, Carp, cigar, Cigar held by a lion, Coal, Conch shell, Cow,

· Ford Edge, Frog, Goat,

· Hard hat, Hershey Kiss, Hog, Huckleberry,

· Indy car,

· Lollipop,

· M&M, Moravian star, Mossbunker fish,

· Nugget,

· Orange,

· Pear, Pine cone, Ping pong balls, Planet earth, Pretzel,

· Red rose,

· Sardine, Sled, Sphoctogon, Spring, Star, Steamroller, Sunburst,

· Ukulele,

· Wildcat, Wooden duck, Wrench

Maybe you could start your very own drop in your neighbourhood

las vegas cigar convention 2009

Cigar smoking is all about shared pleasure. After all, it swept Victorian England and became a national pastime in part because it gave men something to do with their hands while they talked after dinner. And it took off during the so-called “cigar boom” of the 1990s in part because new publications, online forums, cigar clubs, and other social venues allowed cigar smokers to talk about their passion.

So it’s no surprise to find cigar-related events all over the social calendar of smokers around the world. In addition to the lavish, expensive Big Smoke conventions put on by Cigar Aficionado magazine – at least two a year, in Las Vegas and New York City – there’s the Ybor City festival in Tampa, Florida, free and open to the public. And that’s just November. Check out a few other, more-exotic possibilities from all over the globe.

The Dominican Republic is the world’s largest source of premium cigars, surpassing even Cuba (from which many of the country’s cigar-making families and technologies emigrated during the years after Castro). La Aurora, Davidoff, Arturo Fuente, and La Gloria Cubana, among many others, all operate there, and as of 2007, it has its own yearly cigar festival as well! Taking place in Santiago, the two-day Procigar Festival (the first of which took place March 5-7, 2008) featured cigar factory tours, visits to tobacco fields, chances to hobnob with some of the world’s greatest cigar makers, and cigar-and-liquor matchups. Companies such as La Aurora, General Cigar Co., and Tabacalera de Garcia, among others, participated, and the inaugural bow was successful enough to motivate a second – to be held February 16-20, 2009.

While you’re there, if you go, you may want to check out some of the other sights offered by this important Latin American cultural capital. The Dominican Republic was the first place permanently settled by Europeans anywhere in either American continent – the oldest cathedrals, universities, and European-made roads can all be found there. Santo Domingo, the country’s capital, butts up against its southern coast, offering breathtaking views (the Procigar Festival takes place far further north, in Santiago, but the country is not super-large in total area). Four mountain ranges decorate the country; the Cordillera Central (“Central Mountain Range”) approaches Santiago, so visitors to the Procigar Festival could also schedule a day trip to see Pico Duarte, the jewel of the Cordillera Central and the highest peak in the West Indies (over 3000 meters). And, of course, Santiago is itself located in the Cibao valley – between the Cordillera Central and Corillera Septentrional (“Northern Mountain Range”), which run parallel to each other – and it’s this rich and fertile area that houses most of the country’s farms, including its tobacco farms.

Or you could follow in author James Joyce’s footsteps and visit Zurich, Switzerland, where the expatriate Irish modernist polymath-writer completed large sections of his surreal novel Finnegans Wake, and where the Whiskyship sails every November. (What is it with November and cigar events?) This whisky-tasting event, which also offers three hundred premium cigars for the sampling, allows those with sharp noses and tastebuds to enjoy single malt whiskies from all over the world, and to enjoy the companies of folks with similar tastes. The 2008 Whiskyship will be the tenth such event. Switzerland, of course, features all sorts of other attractions – among other things, there’s the James Joyce Foundation, but also, you know, mountains and pristine lakes and thousands of years’ worth of European scenery – and would be worth a visit regardless.

Another possibility – albeit somewhat closer to home, at least for North American smokers – is the Nebraska Cigar Festival in Lincoln. Taking place in late November (which pits it against the Ybor City Festival and the two CA Big Smokes in drawing the attention of Midwestern cigar fanatics who don’t feel like going to Zurich), the one-evening event brings in cigars, munchies and a pair of drink tickets for those willing to shell out the admission fees and deal with early-winter Midwestern cold.

Cigars were brought along during our first road trip through the American West. Our travel buddies were cigar smokers who, inspired by Clint Eastwood in “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” brought cigarillos along during our sojourn across the Mohave Desert. At night we camped out, and the cigars were companion accessories to the setting of cold nights out around the fire with the endless sky lit by a melee of diamond stars and surrounded by crisp, dry air delicately scented by the aroma of premium cigar smoke.

The American West has a great tradition of cigar consumption in the old saloons and on cattle drives. From the turn of the 19th century when cattle and railroad barons played poker and spun deals in St. Louis and San Francisco, to the turn of the 20th century when industrial giants like Henry Ford, J.P. Getty and Andrew Carnegie found themselves influencing the century that would see two world wars. The cigar was a companion in smoke-filled rooms and at secret poker tables. There was always a cigar-smoking gambler or two on stage coaches heading west, and after that aboard club cars on transcontinental trains from New York to Chicago to California. Cigars do indeed have a travel history in the American West.

“Cigar store Indians,” originally designed as plaques and statues representing Native Americans, became the symbol of tobacco and tobacco advertising during the early 19th and 20th centuries. These statues and plaques were most often used in stores, hotels and outside restaurants and bars to signal (often illiterate customers) the availability of tobacco, or that smoking was permitted inside the establishment. The complete, life-sized figures of “American Indians” were generally used by tobacco-shop owners, with smaller plaques used in general stores.

Images of Native Americans became connected with the sale of tobacco after American Indians introduced the plant to the Europeans who explored and settled in the Americas. Cigar store Indian statues first appeared in Europe, once tobacco was available there. The wooden carvings were based on images created by artists who matched descriptions, rather than first-hand viewings of actual Native Americans. The figures, which most often ended up looking like Europeans in Native American dress, were clothed in fringed buckskins, were draped in blankets and wore feathered headdresses. They did not actually resemble the members of any particular tribe. The sculptors carved chiefs, braves, princesses and maidens, sometimes with papooses. Most of the figures grasped tobacco or cigars in their hands or displayed leaves on their clothing. There were several artists in the United States who specialized in carving ship figureheads, architectural details and portrait busts, then turned to creating figures of American Indians full-time as demand increased. Names of note in this genre of carving are John Cromwell, Thomas Brooks, the Skillin family, and Samuel Robb, who operated studios in Northeastern cities and put out product catalogues.

Modern times have called for the image of the cigar store Indian to all but disappear, but the Native American will always be remembered as the source of our fine tobacco. When the occasion calls for a fine cigar, enjoy one–especially if you’re under western skies.

Spas catering exclusively to male clientele are finding great success in providing treatments that are low on the girly factor but deliver results for men who seek relief and rejuvenation. Many have also kept in mind men-friendly amenities such as lounges where guys can kick back and catch the game on flat-screen televisions.

Located in San Antonio, Texas, A Terra Spa features a men’s specialty menu using all natural organic ingredients. The Sports Massage and Stretching is dedicated to increasing mobility, soothing aching muscles, and reliving stress. This treatment can be customized to address a man’s individual areas of muscle fatigue and tension. The mineral essential Dead Sea Salt Scrub is a natural exfoliate ideal for men’s skin, which leaves the body hydrated and invigorated. Or, the Gentleman’s Hot Towel Steam Facial incorporates the traditional barber hot towel technique with aromatherapy for the ultimate experience.

The 1,200-square-foot, men-only Bode Spa in Ottawa, Ontario, offers spa services created with men in mind using Laboratoire Dr. Renaud products. Male clientele indulge in aromatherapy massage, collagen facials, pedicures and more. The facial for the back treatment is ideal for men suffering from back acne or oil build-up. Even men with normal to dry skin relax while their back is washed, exfoliated, treated and massaged.

In Atlanta, Georgia, men in the know find their ultimate relaxation at The Executive where they are greeted with a beverage of choice and the sports highlights on ESPN. From the Executive Shave which includes pre-shave oils and a mini facial to a massage and pedicure, The Executive was developed to make men feel comfortable in a spa environment.

El Rey Club in Austin, Texas, was designed for men with amenities such as flat screen televisions, barber rooms, and an executive lounge equipped with a poker table and stocked bar. Spa offerings include barber services, scalp therapies, massage, facials, nail grooming, and hair removal services, to name a few. For deluxe service, packages include valet parking, a shoe shine, choice of car wash or lunch, and spa services. El Rey hosts poker nights, scotch and wine tastings, and weekend cocktail parties for members and their guest. Full locker amenities are also offered to members.

In Manhattan, more than 4,500 square feet are dedicated to care for men at Nickel Spa. French slang for being clean and feeling good, Nickel provides straight-to-the-point services and products, which has led to its success as one of the key players in the men’s cosmetic industry. The interior which includes eight treatment rooms, mani and pedi stations, and a reading lounge is both sophisticated and masculine. Nickel’s famous morning-after rescue gel is a must-have for New Yorker celebrities and night-clubbers.

What every man dreams of – the 007 offered at The Spa Loft in Woodland Hills, California, begins with a deep and stimulating total body exfoliation to increase blood flow and create healthy skin. This is followed by a mini Relaxation Massage. Packages include the Black Tie for a facial and massage; The Tough Guy featuring a pedi, hot stone massage, and gentleman’s facial; and treatments designed For the Groom, including a facial with oxygen blast. For the workaholic, there’s even a Blackberry massage.

In Irvine, California, men step up the lounge’s putting green at PROFILE Spa and Salon, or make a purchase from the cigar shop after a hot stone massage. There’s even XBOX 360 available in the VIP Lounge on a 42-inch plasma. For those who want a customized experience, SONOS allow staff to steam clients’ favorite playlists and music groups directly to treatment rooms. What man wouldn’t enjoy some hand and foot care while catching the game in a leather chair?
